Began working on the web frames using simple pocket holes. I made this little holder a while back and includes a little storage box for all the bits. I don’t use it often but when I do it’s very convenient.

Then used some 90 degree clamping squares screwed to some scrap MDF to align and screw the frames together. Work beautifully!

Cut a notch so I could bring the web frames 3mm from the front edge.

All glued in waiting for drawers!

Got all the drawer components all milled to final thickness. I went 14.5mm for the drawer fronts (I’ll attach a 3mm laminate on the front to make them look like half blind dovetails. 9.5mm for the drawer sides which will plane down to around 8.5mm and 17mm for the drawer backs.

It was a bit of a stuff around dimensioning all the different thicknesses but even though it’s for the workshop I thought I’d go all out.

At this stage the components are all wider than the opening to I’ll use my shooting board to snug up on the fit, then do the final fit after glue up to get a piston fit.

A bit of an update on the sharpening bench. Decided to change the drawer front to European oak. I resawed the boards and will attach a 3mm veneer to the front. This will give me the opportunity to trial a drawer pull design I’ve been thinking of and also cover the front drawer fronts.

First drawer I kept the dovetails pretty wide, the second I’m getting narrower. I’m about to do the third drawer and will cut them quite narrow as I prefer the look.

Drawer support to plane the drawer to fit the drawer opening.

Veneers that will be attached to drawer fronts.

Top is glued up in two parts. I’ll run these both through the jointer/thicky then glue as one.

G'Day Andy, This has to be something for inside the house, not for the shed/workshop ... Cheers Peter

Been a slow progress but got the sides of the base glued up.

Top has been glued up but just needs to be cut to size.

With cabinet in. Just needs the remaining drawers to be completed.
