    Default WIP Thicknesser Stand

My second attempt at making a table/bench type thing! See https://imgur.com/a/eeAhW for my first!

I have acquired a cheap ryobi thicknesser, which in all honesty will probably do for some time, while I turn recovered timber into woodchips, and occaisionally making something useful in the process

After using it on the ground I decided that was a silly thing to do, and decided to build a stand for it. I jointed and thicknessed some pallet rails and started to do some tenons, got the first cut done, then realised I should have done that along the wider side of the timber

Managed to get the mortices matching up reasonably well, and glued both up!

That's all the photos I've taken for now, but I've also made and screwed + glued the cross rails, will take some more when I get home!

I like to see recycled wood put to good use. My only advice would be put wheels on it.

Years ago now I had a Delta. This is the stand I made, essentially to reinforce the in-and outfeed tables ...

Thanks all for the extra ideas! I'll definitely be putting some wheels on!

Here's the rest of the photos with cross rail details. It's super sturdy, I'm always surprised at how strong wooden things are!

A last question, is it worth finishing it in some fashion? Poly or paint, wax, or just leave it bare?

As per my photos, the important design area is to reinforce the tables. This is to prevent snipe (I should have said so before). A base, as you have built, helps raise the thicknesser to a workable height, but without a long enough top and supports, you are vulnerable to the tables dropping under weight. That will lead to snipe. Prevent the tables dropping.
