Concretors were here today and from the look of it, I won't have any problems. They spent hours on this slab to get it perfect or close to it.

Here is the freshly layed slab, they spent hours after this waiting for it to "go off", and then use this big machine to smooth it out - had big blades on it.

Had to protect it from dog paws

Yeehar! New shed! easier to tie the dog up than build a fence for the day, or maybe put the pooch on a slider chain until it sets. a helicopter finish is great for machines. (Just went past you to drop #1 son at Avalon)

There are 4 dogs Looking after in laws dogs too! So was easier to build the fence, than have 4 dogs on chains getting tangled up.

Also I was told might be 2 days (because of the weather this week I guess) before it completely sets and won't accept paw prints!

I'd give it as long as I can before releasing the hounds, nails digs in a nice helicoptered finish might make you see red.

I will leave the fence up for the few weeks until the erectors arrive to build the thing.

Looking good, Pell - looks like the same dimensions as my shed, which works very well for me. The slab is awfully close to the fence, though - how're you going to screw the iron on that side???
(My concern is 'cos I recently helped a friend put the steel on his shed, & one side was VERY close to a hedge, which caused a few sticks in tender places...... )

    Cheers,

I put up a 6x6 shed against another building (brick wall) and we just built the 6x3 wall first (screwing all cladding to the frame) lying on the ground, then just lifted it into place against the other building wall. Easy enough at the time.

    Pretty obvious, I suppose!
I imagined that would be the only practical way. Easy for sheds like mine (Titan) in which the walls are prefabbed panels, but my mate's shed was a different design, based on 3 arches, and there is no way you could put the iron on first. Incidentally, it was a cow of a thing to erect - I would never buy that brand if I had to do it over!

Thats why I paid an installer They can figure it out!

The installer is employed by the shed company so they have experience with that kind of installation. I asked the company reps about it, and it was not going to be a problem.

Its 4.6m x 9m x 2.7m high - the most space SWMBO would surrender from the backyard, and the tallest I could afford!

    Nice size shed, Pelcorp.

Mine is 4.6x7.6x3.4m - a little shorter and a little higher than yours. Initially I put in three double fluoros and found I did not have enough light. Then I added two more double fluoros and now I have almost enough light. Currently I am mulling over how to improve my lighting.

There are probably some industry guidelines on effective workshop lighting - perhaps even a standard, but i have been using trial and error.

Finally, even in a workshop its worth getting the "warm light" fluoros - much nicer light.

    Cheers

    Graeme

    Thumbs up

Great to see another hobby woodworker in Lara!
I'm considering wiring up that new shed of yours (lights and power) and you can show me how to use all those new machines you have on order whe they are set up.
I have 8? single fluoros in my shed which is about the same size as yours and it lights up quite well.
I think plug bases in the roof purlins might be the best option for you and suspending the lights on chain.
This way you can locate your lights directly over your machines at a later date if you need to without changing any wiring.
    cheers rileyp

    Front wall went up yesterday.

As did the rest of the roof joists or whatever you call them, and they started trimming the front and rear walls but their nibbler broke. Not sure what a nibbler is, but its $700 to replace so no trip to bunnies to get us back on track. I am told there is 3 hours left, which is half of what it was yesterday, so I guess I feel a little more calm than I did previously
