    Default Making Big Wooden Propellers

This video shows making BIG wooden propellers for the wind tunnels at Langley in the US where nearly all the aeronautical R&D happened during WW2. It is interesting to see the precision they worked too.

    Worked for me, Firefox.

Thank you for that, fantastic how they did it. I liked the profile planer that looked like a rolling pin. Just goes to show what was done with manpower and skill and to high tolerances compared to modern cnc technology (undoubtedly cnc is even more accurate) but still very impressive.
Notice the difference between OH & S then compared to now, all those pneumatic power tools and no hearing protection.

And the workers - most looked as if they had only just completed their High school education. Maybe not old enough for military service.

Same same, but different. Turn on captions for commentary.

Didn’t get any captions but loved the “Ride of the Valkyrie” used as background.
