They look very pretty but I remember when my Aunt and Uncle bought me a toy woodworkers set, I was so disappointed that they didn't cut anything. Fortunately my Dad had a great range of tools but I wasn't allowed to use them until I learned how to use them properly at high school. I still have many of my Dads tools and have passed some on to my 18 year old grandson who is an apprentice cabinet maker.

I got a couple of 'kids sets' when I was young too. There was junior jacksaw in the kit. It did cut but could not cut through a table leg as the blade length and depth of throat would not facilitate such a task.

I did get my hands on a hand drill. That led to many hours of unsupervised fun. It seemed we had borers?

My aim is to have kids using some tools long before high school.

I like the tools & carrier. In my house, a wooden hammer makes just about as big a dent in the wall as a real hammer.
Boys turn 4 in October. I do believe that I will score some tools in the discount store for gifts.
Grand inspiration and I can add to their piles for years to come. Tools Rules !!

The other key thing in child development is the emphasis on hand-eye co-ordination.
It needs to be quite sophisticated and some parents refuse to allow for that.
Even something as mundane as buttoning a shirt.

A good tip I heard somewhere was giving young kids a sheet a foam or a foam box, golf tee's and a hammer. This can help with eye hand coordination and assist for learning to hammer nails

The news is just in = very good idea but hold off for a year.

D2 reports that the boys were "fixing" the livingroom walls with screwdrivers.
I had to pretend to be serious. Nearly bust a gut trying to keep from laughing.
Good boys. When they're older, Grandpa will teach them how to fill the holes.

My brother drilled a hole through the wall (masonry) by hand so he could spy on our mum.

Kids will be kids but all a part of learning
