WoodWorking For Kids
Finally I am getting close to bringing a dream to reality. For a long time I have wanted to get a woodworking YouTube channel up and running.
One part of the channel will feature WoodWorking for Kids. I know have a part of my FaceBook page promoting this up and coming channel
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...26246947506804
If you would like to help me help kids I would love for you to share the above page post.
Also any ideas or tips would be welcome.
I hope to direct more people back to our forum too.
I might have to enlist the help of BigShed or someone else to edit my facebook and YouTube posts 😉. I have heard around the traps that I am nortoriously know for my flagrant typos and wrong use of words
If this works well I may even talk to Neil about a subsection (unless there is one I have not seen already) WoodWorking for Kids

Thanks Kuffy. We may even be able to do collaborative work at some point. I'd really like to get around and visit a number of Aussie YouTubers in the coming years

Dave, thats a great initiative, Woodworking for Kids. I am hoping to be able to teach my grandkids when they are old enough. My seven-year old granddaughter loves watching Grandad in the shed but she is not ready to start for herself just yet. My almost 2 year old grandson will sit and watch woodworking DVD's all day, in preference to cartoons. he recently picked up the body of a block plane I was fixing (no blade) and tried to use it just like Grandad does. The four year old grandson lives in Brisbane so he doesn't know much about Grandad's shed but he might get interested.
I would be happy to assist with this initiative. The kids are the future.
Cheers
DougI got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Thanks Doug, if your happy to share that page post on your fb account that would be fantastic.
Trying to build up momentum to the launch.
Also will be covering woodworking for kids as young as 4. It just has to be tailored to their abilities.

Twin grandsons, will be 4 in October. This is great. I'll suggest that ideas for simple builds are important. As shallow as simple suggestions for gutter boats towed with a string.
Don't forget the finishing, like simple painting. I know my grandsons spend quality time at the kitchen table drawing and painting, already.
Grandpa wears a carpenter's apron. Apron and painting smock patterns for kids of different sizes? I have no clue how big an average 3 yr old is, 600 miles away.
I can't cope with " the kid is 38 months old." The boys are 102cm tall. Works for me.

For the real young I will look at rubbed glue joints and encourage creativity with wooden blocks etc.
Thanks for the reminder witj finishing. As my kids range 5 - 8 they will feature in many videos

DaveTTC: Brilliant plan to star your kids in the videos. Kids recognize kids. Kids doing kid stuff.
All we should be doing is supplying the parts then gracefully back off and let them mess around with their imaginations.

Collabs are on my list of things to do. Shooting for 1000 subscribers to my channel beforehand though. Probably only take a couple of months to get to 1000 if I pull my finger out.
You are always welcome round here so long as it doesn't conflict with my incredibly hectic schedule

Dave well done.
There is no greater satisfaction than to pass onto willing minds the wonders of workshop of any kind. From my dad to uncles friends of both without those through my younger years I could have only hoped to learn and be encouraged.
At school it would have discouragement in some cases while in others nothing but encouragement for continuing the adventure.
I'm 61 and still learning because there is always change, new ideas and tools.
Both my sons also pass on to their boys & girl so they know not everything is magically made and store bought.
