Default Wormholes!!!!

Chatting with some mates the other day. We were discussing what happens to stuff you drop on the floor which disappears without trace. You know what I mean, that screw which rolled off the bench. You hear it hit the floor, but when you look, it's not there.
Someone suggested borrowers. I said it must be a wormhole, you know, a doorway to a parallel universe. I reckon there is one under every workbench.
My mate said "I've got one of those under my car!" He reckons also that wherever the car goes the wormhole goes with it, 'Cos the same thing happens at his mate's house.

The discussion also solved the mystery of left over bits. This is when you take something apart (a toaster for example), put it back together and test it. The thing works ok but you have two bits left over. Yes?
These are bits that someone in another universe have dropped on the floor and they have popped up on your bench!! Simple. Mystery solved!

Now if we can just work out the puzzle of where the hell all those wire coat hangers in my wardrobe come from.......

Maybe they are the black holes that Phil is worried about. Seems all that happens is screws, pencils and washers go missing, so it might be safe for him to finish his cupboard.

My shed is a black hole. Wood goes in, but nothing comes out.

Yeah - those under-bench wormholes are connected to the washing-machine, too, so the same place all those screws & small parts end up, there's a dirty great pile of odd socks!

Hadn't thought of wormholes, but now you mention it, it's obvious, isn't it? Only the other day, I dropped the last(!) screw in the packet - heard it hit, was even sure I SAW where it went, out of the corner of my eye, but gave up after 15 minutes of frustrated searching.
The floor was relatively clean at the time, too, adding great support to the wormhole theory.

Cheers,

I'd forgotten about the odd sock mystery!
I think there's a shoe shop somewhere with a wormhole that leads to my wife's wardrobe.
The plot thickens !
Any more wormholes out there?

Something is devouring my pencils... My screws show up weeks later when I clean up but the pencils are always gone and double gone. I once had one behind my ear and though it might be found but ......? I sometimes have them clinched in my teeth but then....? I went as far as to put Pencil holders within reach from any portion of my shop and.....? My daughter bought me some of those Primary pencils (as a Joke) "You won't loose these" Ha Ha Ha lasted half a day. I've had pencils on a lanyard around my neck, My son gave me a magnet pencil holder to stick on my machines.... Ha Ha Ha... I can't find the magnet let alone the pencil it holds. And don't even get me started on Sharpies..... Nice clean sharp point for detailed drawing and then something comes along in the dark and blunts the point to 1/4" diameter, and dries up the ink. (OKay, I know who that is... Grandchildren)... but my pencils.

Where have you been? Everyone knows missing socks transmogrify into wire coat hangers.

If you don't believe me then count the number of odd socks in your drawer and then the number of unused wire coathangers in the wardrobe. The number will always match, save for the few socks still undergoing the metamorphasis...

Can't be a wormhole. Must be Borrowers. Otherwise why do only the bits you want disappear. I've never seen sawdust or offcuts disappear from under the bench.

Maybe in an alternate reality somewhere there's a guy scratching his head saying "Where on earth have all my coathangers gone, and how come my wardrobe's full of odd socks?"

Sometimes I think my glasses have been swallowed by a wormhole, but it usually turns out they're on top of my head.
