Went in for a quick look this arvo. Most of the prices were hovering around rrp, but if you do a bit of work there aresome good prices are on offer on some of bigger machinery (mainly the white goods) and on the cheaper end power tools.
Unfortunately in my case the machinery can't come before the new shed, the new boat, the new deck, the inlaws unit, ...... bring on next year !
Also of great misfortune- by 2pm there was not a foil hat to be seen???Last edited by Eastie; 15th October 2004 at 06:26 PM.

Woodworking Heaven
Woodworking heaven opened up this morning at 10 am at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. I was amongst the first to enter and met up during the day with Ozwinner, Grunt, Scooter, Woodborer, DPB, Neil, Christopha, and Soren.
A wonderful collection of tools and gadgets and timber was there to tempt everyone and I was unable to resist. I wish I could buy all but as the Tupperware party was defeated in the election we have to pay for it.
So now I am the proud owner of a new bandsaw, the Delta morticing machine, a pocket hole jig, the Veritas small blade holder and some honing compound and of course some more Ubeaut products served by Neil himself.
I spend too much (have fessed up to SHMBO and promised not to do it again) may be next year I shouldn’t go.
Peter.

looks like everyone is there and not reading the forum
To err is human, to really stuff up requires a computer!

I actually forgot it was on until I was half way through a flight home when stumbled across the date in a copy of the AWR. I thought about asking the flight attendant for half a metre of foil – but I recon I might have been arrested of terrorism or something during the production process – not to mention I didn’t have the hat specifications at hand and one wouldn’t want to end up fashioning a collection dish instead of a shield
Have a good weekend Peter - we'll no doubt catch up around the traps in the coming months.

It all sounds good....
Think I'll go on Sunday - does the WWW show work like other trade shows where Sunday prices are usually reduced? I have an itch for a laser SCMS that's busting to be scratched... )
Cheers,
Geoff

More Mujinfang planes at WWW Melb.
Greetings,
I spent several hours there myself - arrived a little late so missed the foil hats.
However, I did see a number (10 to 20) Mujinfang (not certain of the spelling) planes going for $35.00 for the smoother size up to $99.00 for the larger trying plane size. They were at the western end of the hall at the "shop" manned by two distinguished turban wearing gentlemen.
Those who missed out on the Paul's/Sydney sale last time may like to check them out.
The highlight of the show for me was the best Huon Pine slab I have ever seen. Absolutely covered in birdseye and highly figured grain and a mere snip at $900.00.
Regards,Rebus

Used the free vouchers (guaranteeing a 15 % discount of your first purchase from the new store) they're giving away for the grand opening to the Bayswater store in Jan/Feb 05 as a bargaining tool as I was prepared to wait untill then if necessary.

I got there about 11.30 and couldn't believe the carpark was full ! There's 3 or 4 shows all running at once so I'd advise getting there early. I had to park over at Crown and looked a bit dumb carrying some timber back through there
I thought it was generally good, altough I kept my credit card well in check and only lashed out on a new template for my Gifkins jig.
For DanP - didn't see an ML-392 at the Carbatec stand. I paid $895 for mine and was curious to see if they would be cheaper. I did note that 1HP dust extractors were around $170 instead of the usual $199 so that isn't bad.
Those slabs were something else. Qld maple, redgum, raintree........just made my mouth water. I bought about $50 worth of assorted small bits (sassafrass and rosewood) so I'll be happily playing away for a while..............until next year.If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.
