XCEED thicknesser planer blades
I have an XCEED 254mm thicknesser planer. I got it second hand so I have no manuals. I want to change the blades. I tightened the bolts up to remove the blades and although it loosened everything I cannot extract the blades. They are loose and I can see two holes in the blades but I just cannot get them to come away from the metal bar the bolts are in. Any help will be appreciated.XCEED 254mm.jpg

Not familiar with that brand and could not google anything on it either. In general you usually slacken the bolts to remove the blade. They can often get gunked up so sometimes need pliers to help extract them. A lot of cutter heads have small springs below the blade so take care not to loose them when you remove the blades. Plenty of how to change planer blades clips on youtube to get the general idea. If you can still not get anywhere with it then post some more pics showing the bolts and blade holding side of the cutter head.
Regards
John

Hi. I have some blades from one of those. They have a hook in them. Need a sideways slide before they pop out.blade2.jpg

Thanks for that. I have reassembled it with the blades offset so I can use it. The next time I pull it apart I will see if this works. Thanks

Hi Mort
Bernie Morrow I asked about this problem and worked out that there are 2 roll pins in those 2 holes.(Excess safety) I think. If you get a small tapered wedge (e.g. Screw driver) .One end at a time you can force it onto the top of the roll pin and lever it down.Very slight resistance if you approach carefully.Knife should come out as normal. I removed roll pin.Sharpened Knife and reset as normal. Cheers Bernie
