Zero voltage knee press emergency stop
-- PART 1
Well, that's what I think it's called anyway.....anyone know where to get a GOOD one? Zero voltage auto off safety with a nice big red paddle I can knee to turn off the table router....?
-- PART 2
Let me explain...I have a Festool MFT/3 VL subtable and the Festool pop in router module. They can be seen here: MFT 3 Multi-function Workbench with CMS Table Extension - Festool Australia
I have been getting more traditional and wanted to build my own router table. Bought a Triton TRA001, a Kreg plate and some slippery melamine for a top. All regular. Except I can't find ANYWHERE one of those emergency paddle style stop buttons that come on every table saw you'd care to name.
The Trade Tools 12m10a I have has one, a nice one, it has a regular plug and a kettle plug on the other end. The Festool VL table has one too. Not a knee able one, but two regular plugs. Both are just like an extension cord with a dirty great mountable switch...
Think I can find a stand alone after market one! Anywhere.....
-- PART 3
This is a whinge. Australan retail has officially completely gone to #####. I rang 10 places today asking for this. Electrical supply companies, ALL the big woodwork places and a few metal machinery places... While I believe it's called something like a "zero voltage plugable safety on off switch" and giving an accurate description of what I need and how it's used AND some of the gear I have here that has one, NOT ONE of the flea scratching simians who grunted back down the phone could help me. Sure, I don't know the exact technical term for the thing I need, but the whole industry is geared to failure when it can't help people who can't provide an exact term (nor did they assist in providing it either. Just... no, nope, ain't got one, huh, never heard of it mate, "didja try Bunnings" (Jesus h Christ!))
CEOs of these companies should be ashamed. I will provide a list of who I called and they should RING THEIR OWN COMPANIES to see how bad it is. I simply couldn't believe it. I felt like a complete idiot, as if I was asking a waiter for an electron powered left handed salad fork... In Swahili.
Maybe it's me that's the idiot. Maybe such a blindingly obvious piece of safety equipment simply hasn't made it to our shores. (I will put a 1% defence to H+F, they had one I had to wire in myself for $85-ish... But it wasnt the simple plugin ones you find on Rockler/EBay/Amazon/UK sites.....that cost $20 max.)

What ever you obtain, you will probably need to (or get your friendly sparky to) wire it yourself so it becomes part of an "extension lead".

If you are going to use your knee to turn it of why not get the H&F one and hard wire it?
I did this to my Vicmarc lathe with a paddle switch I bought as a spare part from Carba-tec.

The first one fromBig Shed is so close!
Here is a picture of what I'm talking about:

I emailed TotalTools, maybe they will respond.
What I don't get is there are dozens of these on Amazon, Rockler and other places. What makes Australia so completely backward when it comes to products? I cannot believe how often I'm forced to order from overseas.

when I upgraded my router table from the Triton table, the router and safety switch moved over to the new table simply because it was too hard to find a suitable switch any other way.
I did not want to strip the Triton table as I sold it on and it was worth a hell of a lot less without the switch but still useable. I actually sold the top and included the base, minus switch, at no cost in the deal.
Evanism, that info probably doesn't help too much, but I can sympathize with your position.

Magnetic Starter NVR with Safety Off
Well, according to the August 2013 carbatec catalogue, page 8, they are called Magnetic Starter NVR with Safety Off
Give me a lead
Shame they don't sell them individually....

If it's a NVR or zero volt switch it has to have a start button to switch back on once it has been off, through loss of supply or pushing the stop.

Evanism, an outside chance - Kincrome are the distributors of Triton now. You might be able to order in a "spare part" for your triton router stand.
Cheers

Have a look here Evanism, not the paddle switch you wanted but the prices are right. This is not an obvious sit to look at for switches!
You could easily make a red plastic paddle switch to go over this switch for knee activation as well. See here.
The hole in the paddle is so the on switch at the top is not pushed in when you activate the knee push for the off switch.

And if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better"

No Volt Release - Dangerous Restart is DANGEROUS!
What an interesting rabbit hole we've found here Alice!
Thanks everyone for pointers and ideas. This site is great for that.
What I've found and realised with some alarm, is from a multitude of reasons that this is no joking matter...perhaps in need of a major campaign, perhaps political.
I have a NVR on my Carbatec CTJ-196 jointer, TotalTools M12A10 and Festool MTF/3 router subtable. Great..
BUT not on my bandsaw, thicknesser and other smaller power tools.
Dangerous Restart after a power failure must be a MAJOR cause of serious injury. My bandsaw is a classic. It's a cheap Chinese knockoff with a basic switch. It hangs off a shared power board and looses juice when I really bog it down. If one forgets to stop it at the saw, when it powers on....whoooossshhh! So damned dangerous!
I cannot believe this isn't a MAJOR OH+S issue. The lawyers must have a free-run royal-flush field day on these injuries.
From the suggestions here, I used the spare part route. I've emailed Carbatec and TotalTools. Let's see how much they gouge me....

Doug3030 might have the right idea. Try getting it as a spare part.
Hare & Forbes carry a good range of spares. just find a machine that has what you want - maybe like this
W640 | SP-300 Spindle Moulder | machineryhouse.com.au
Rockler has exactly what you want but of course it is rated at 120 Volts. Safety Power Tool Switch - Rockler Woodworking Tools
It kind of makes you wonder how the machines that are sold here get rated at 240V____________________________________________________________
