Got this knife from a place near Ino in Shikoku. Also purchased a small set of carving knives in Kochi, but no photo unfortunately.Semtex fixes all

Nice knife g9, Oak handle, I wonder if you can but knives without the scales? my niece is in Sapporo teaching English for year, is there a particular place to look for hand made knives like a market or similiar or back yard forges etc.
I suppose she can ask the teachers at the school., be interesting to see what she can find, if she has time, they really work hard over there - long hours etc.

Long hours yes, hard work...nah. Filling in time mostly to look busy.
Sapporo is up north, so not much I can add. Local knowledge your best bet. Plenty of wood carving to be found though. Hope she has been to Furano, it is really quite nice. My favourite glass factory is there. Toyako down the south is also worth a visit. There was a farm shop selling ice cream just outside of the town, up the hill on the way in. Went there every day I was there...
I'll ask my friend if she has any suggestions, she is a Hokkaido native currently living in Australia. She took us up to Otaru and the music box factory. Had the best chicken ever just near that place...
And obviously if she is ever in desperate need for support or help, I know plenty of people that can assist with document translating etc. All FOC to fellow Aussies. [emoji4]Semtex fixes all
