Early next month, Oct. 8th the Kezuroukai USA will be in Los Gatos, California near San Jose. It will be a one day event that will be wall to wall demonstrations and will include 10 master crafts persons giving talks and demo's on sharpening, hewing wood, chisel and plane work, building and design and a lot more. The event is free to the public.
Vol. 4
The President of Kezuroukai.jp of Japan Kamijo Masaru will give a discussion, he won the planing contest earlier this year with wood shaving of 2um, a human hair averages 100um and a beard hair in the 300um range. It was said that his 2 micron thin shaving of 70mm wide by 2 meters long when held at arms length and dropped took seconds to flutter to the floor. Needless to say that this single man by this defined performance might be the greatest sharpening guru in the world. The Kezuroukai newsletter is suggesting that upwards of 200 participants will attend, last years Kezuroukai in Oakland California drew nearly that many so I think that they are underplaying that guess.

The Kezuroukai.us newsletter TheWoodenPost in it's full volume edition is sadly only available to members but it might be worth the membership for a few devotes here, but in anycase the Vol. 4 post linked above it gives details of the days events.

Hope to see a few of you there, if so say hello.
