I use a Kakuri saw from Japanese Tools to cut recycled jarrah as well as soft woods. The blades are thicker than most Japanese saws I've seen and the saw works well. That said, I've also lost a couple of teeth but not to the same extent as you. They might be worth looking into if you're planning to continue using Japanese saws

I purchased a saw specifically for hardwoods, see Z-Saw Kataba - hardwood

The tooth profile is more suited to our hardwoods.

Haven't lost a tooth on any of my saws, yet.

Can't say the same for myself...

    Keep sharp

Godfrey, I do like using jap saws. They seem so effortless to use, except when I strip a few teeth. I know a few shipwrights who use them a lot and they really know how to use them.

I began buying directly from Japan before J-tools were readily available here and have just continued to do that, so can't advise if that saw is available here. Whoever you buy from make sure you order a spare blade or two; they will come at no extra postage cost and will be immediately available when needed.

Bought this saw <https://www.carbatec.com.au/handtools-and-handplanes/japanese-saws/japanese-wood-saws/carpenter-saw-h-250-blade-no-z-15204> no issues with it for the last 6 months. Does hard woods leaving a nice smooth cut. Liked it so much I bought a second one. I have two saw work stations.

Yes, they work well on our hardwoods.

When you are ready for replacement blades you can save a bit on them here...

Hardwood 250 blade. : Tools from Japan, Japanese woodworking tools direct from Japan.

with economy shipping that brings the price below A$20.
