    Default BF XR6 Turbo Ute Feedback Required....

    Hi All, I am in the market for a second hand ute, never driven one, just want a daily driver (work in IT) with the ability to haul stuff on weekends thats a little sporty.

    Been trawling carsales etc trying to figure out what i want, i have found a BF xr6 Turbo that looks pretty good, but i was hoping for some feedback from others.

    I have recently seen a thread on another forum that mentioned they are hard to drive in the wet, and to be honest its got me a little spooked... I've been driving for over 10 years and i am rating 1 so i am a pretty good driver and not a hoon...

    What do people think? Am i over reacting?

    That ute will have more grunt than a paddock full of pigs!!!

    Nothing is hard to drive in the wet if you have the correct tyres, but more importantly you need to drive for the conditions.

    Just because the vehicle has the grunt it doesn't mean you are obliged to use it no matter what.

    Speaking of good tyres, beware when they need replacing, a friend of mine had a BA XR8 and new tyres for it started at $400..caught him out a bit.

    Mate has a XR6 bf turbo ute, and I have the sedan, both very nice to drive, if you drive like your in V8 super car race then you will be able to watch the fuel gauge drop before your eyes, but if you drive normaly you will get very good milage, when you need or want the power it is there in truckloads. Tyres are not a problem you don't have to buy the expensive ones as for driving in the wet, no different to any other car drive to you and your cars capability.

    It'll handle better in the wet with a bit of weight over the back wheels - stick a couple of bags of fertiliser in the back......

    Have a look at a Hilux, usually has a better all-round figure than a Ford or Holden for carrying or towing and probably cheaper as well for fuel

    DJ he's after something sporty... nothing against Hilux's(they're a good ute)but there's nothing sporty about them, even the TRD enhanced job is not a performer.
    The falcon xr6t is one of the best town utes on the market, they are capable of carrying/towing a reasonable load and go like the clappers and look good, plenty of aftermarket parts if you want to go faster or dress up more.

    If you find it hard to drive in the wet you shouldnt be on the road, the xr6 utes handle very well for a live axle car.

    I'd say 245kw, live axle and little weight over the rear wheels would definitely require respect in the wet, but shouldn't be too bad.

    I haven't driven the turbo, just the XR6 sedan and it was a beautiful touring car. Excepting family duties, I reckon I would be happy to live with the ute - excellent work/fun balance
