    Default Help with strange problem

I have a Hylux 4x4 Ute 2004, It has just started to turn the head lights on by its self. This is only the head lights not the parkers or tail lights. If they have turned them selves on and I turn the ignition on they go off. A couple of times opening the door making the interior light go on turned them off. I have had to pull the headlight relay out when ever I leave it or at some stage it decides to turn the head light on.
Should I call a exorsist or could it be a faulty relay?

Indeed, strange behavior. I've never heard of this one before but my old Hilux used to turn the radio on without any button pressing which was a BIG problem because it drained the battery. It was, apparently, common and quickly fixed at a service.
If you discover a cure for your lights please post it here as I now have a newer 4x4.

If my phone plays up I take the battery out, count to0 ten and put it back...... my mechanic recently suggested I do the same with my Hyundai work bus to cure a computer glitch! Maybe?

    AKA reboot. Really.

As to the lights, there may be a sensor on the dashboard to detect darkness. If dust accumulates on it, it will "think" it's night time, and turn on the lights. Cleaning may solve the problem. Or not, of course.

nO SENSORS IT'S A BASIC MODEL woops. No central locking or electric windows. Maybe Soths the radio turning on is the same problem but head lights suck much more than radios.

Sounds like the contacts are gone in the light switch, which means replacing the indicator stalk.

Might still pay to drop into your local church for a second opinion.

Just re-read this and realized I didn't add the solution.
I replaced the head light relay problem gone, well for 2 years so far anyway.
