Selling an old motorcycle
I bought a motorcycle back in 1984 in Sydney.
Since then I have put over 200,000 klms on it, including a round trip of Australia and many other long tours.
About 10 years ago when I bought a new bike I decided to restore the old bike as it was looking a bit worn out.
Decided a few weeks ago that this style of bike was no longer suitable for me at 55 years age so advertised it on gumtree.
In the past I have had lots of scammers when selling on gumtree and they always send text messages.
So when I advertised this bike I clearly stated "Text messages will be ignored".
Within 15 minutes of posting the add for the bike on gumtree I get a text message that said, "Did you buy this bike in Leichardt over 30 years ago?"
Yep, it was the bloke I bought it off.
I rang him and had a great laugh. He recognised the bike from the exhaust pipes which were custom numbers made from car hot dog style exhausts. He wondered if they were still the same ones, which they weren't as I had had them re-made.
Bike still has not sold which I'm not concerned about however it is funny reflecting on all the memorable times that have been had on that bike.

DSCF6701.jpg Don't mean to seem like I am trying to advertise the bike on this site, I am not.

I sold my T3 back in 1978/9 and still regret it. Wish I could track it down.
They are a great bike and very comfortable. The shaft drive is interesting especially when airborne.

This one started life as a T4.
It had all the Le mans stuff on it when I bought it.

I still have 2 1/2 rattly old guzzis in my shed. I haven't ridden any of them for years...one just needs rego battery oil but I just can't be bothered...
Old age I guess...
The prices they get these days are insane. A lemans is at least $15k now (people ask more but I don't know if they get it), and even T3's etc are pulling $9k...mad.

I'd rather not say if you don't mind...$$$ a lot dearer than a lemans..
I was going to throw together something like yours a few years back, hence the 1/2, but the only driveline I had was a cali3 which is a surprising amount of trouble to fit to a round barrel frame. Anyway I gave it away in the end and sold the engine/gearbox/final drive and have a rolling chassis laying around.
Nice bike that. It'd be nice to have something that I could park and not worry about, but as I say I really can't be bothered anymore.I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

If you guys like older Guzzi's you might like this one.
My brother's workshop helper
Not mine, it's one of my younger bros that he did up a couple of years back.

No his name is Wayne (mine is Brad which is close), guess there are a lot of guzzis out there.
BobL, that silver tanked one your brother built looks nice.
They are a great bike, very reliable and easy to do the basic servicing on.
Changing a clutch is a P.I.T.A compared to other bikes as you have to take the engine out of the frame to do the job but you don't have to do that too often.

I had to swap gearboxes one day, took me maybe 4 hours start to finish. The clutch is the hardest part to get to, but consider you have to drop the engine out of the frame to do headwork on some bikes.
If that was a '74 model it's had a lot of changes. Rear discs came in in 75 and those mags are late 70's. Very pretty thing though...I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

Don't think I ever said it was a 74 model. T4 was what the guy I bought it from said. Reckoned he bought it new in 1982.
As for your previous response ,
Start quote, "I'd rather not say if you don't mind...$$$ a lot dearer than a lemans.." End quote.
You have got me bamboozled and curious.

I'm sorry I was unclear. I was referring to BobL's bike photos in the other thread. I will pm or email you on the other matter.
