I put these on our Hyundai Terracan

Great tyre both on bitumen and gravel/dirt and in wet or dry.
Nice and quiet too.

are you looking for
handling?
long tire life? (measured in km)
grip in the wet?
low price?
ride comfort?
minimal road tire noise?
I'm not sure that you can tick all of the above
what tires are currently on the vehicle?
are you happy with their rate of wear? handling?
what options in terms of size and profile are you allowed to fit to the vehicle?regards from Alberta, Canada

All of the above.
It currently has a pair of Cooper CS4 Touring on the front that are worn out & a pair of Dunlop ST20 Grandtrek on the back.
Wife put a stick through the wall of one of the set of CS4s & we were out near Longreach & had to settle for what was in stock hence the Dunlops.
The CS4s have done about 42K, aproxx 85% blacktop, the rest dirt & gravel roads.
Several people have recommended the Pirelli SCORPION but they don't seem to come in 225/60R17 & that is what the plate inside the driver's door says.Cliff.

It depends on the use on or off road or both.
Our old HJ60 Landy I got 130K out of the first set of Hancook's and 120K out of the 2nd set it was sold with them on it. I did some k's traveling from Tamwoirth to Sydney at least 5 times a year local on and off road driving small amount of 4x4.
The Camra station wagon had Kumho's 65k and sold it with at least a 1/4 tread still on.
Have a set of Hancooks now on Forester still running them in prior these a mixed bag from when we bought it Yamaha's on rear and Kumho's on front which were new just after we got it. Latter had punture with a 1/2 bolt other torn sidewall from a gutter.
If you like to bounce along try Doublecoin LOL

I've got H rated Bridgestone 235/60R18 on my SUV back in Australia. Have been happy enough with their performance to keep replacing them as needed. The vehicle has done around 160k and my practice is to replace the front pair, then move the partly worn front tires to the rear when the rear ones need replacing and put new ones on the front. With the mileage I was doing, I was putting new tires on the front every year and a bit.

Cliff. you will find that the 225/65R17 is not that far away and will be within legal limit (here in Vic anyway), check with your tyre dealer.
Anyone that has the Scorpions would buy them again, my Colorado came with Bridgstone Duellers and when they wear out I will replace them with the Pirellis.

Cliff
Can I ask a silly question? Your SUV is front wheel drive only? Not all wheel drive?
I am not well up on todays vehicles, but my reason for asking is that with all wheel drive vehicles you can come unstuck big time by only replacing one axles worth of tyres.
I can't imagine, when I think about it, that you would not know if your vehicle was all wheel drive so please disregard my ramblings.

Full time front wheel drive, press button to add the rear wheels if you need them.

Ok
That sounds pretty nifty and I am not familiar with it at all. All wheel drive vehicles rely on sensing different wheel speeds. If unequal diameter tyres are fitted as with brand new in conjunction with well worn the different diameters are sufficient to confuse the sensors with disastrous results.
However, your vehicle sounds different to that. I have not come across the combination before of FWD with RWD on demand. Interesting.

Average about 85% blacktop, the rest dirt & gravel roads but the dirt & gravel will decrease over the next couple of years.

With that percentage of black top the Verde should do you.

I've heard form one user of the Verde that they wear fairly quickly.
