In a similar "Apple " vein, I use Apple TV for the TV and Airport Express for my stereo system. I also bought a device to connect my IPod Classic to the stereo via wireless.
I also use a programs such as Mirroring360 by Splashtop for Apple to Win connection. It's certainly all about ease of connection so I should add Chromecast to my list
