    Default Backup software

I have bought an external case for an old hard drive I had and am using it as a backup, via USB connection. This I am doing manually about once a week.

I would like to know if there is freeware software that would do a backup automatically.

It would need to be idiot proof as I am no computer geek.

    Thanks Macca

I still do mine manually. Here's some food for thought. My BIL was broken into a while ago. His computer was stolen, and so was the external drive that was stored in a drawer just next to it. Learning from that, I disconnect the external drive and store it in a completely different location within the house (a fireproof safe would be ideal, but at the moment I'm aiming to not set fire to the house). If you are going to do that, then automatic backups are less convenient, because you have to make sure the drive is plugged in when the software wants it.

The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".
