    Default Can't play Youtube videos

For some stupid reason, I can no longer play Youtube videos, everything was fine until last night.

I can call up a video, view all the various choices, click on one and it doesn't load.

A youtube blank screen comes up with rotating circles in the middle, and nothing.

I did a Malware scan, nothing serious turned up, and did a restore windows 10.

I have ruled out a problem with Youtube itself as I can play the videos on my iPhone.

Any clues as to what to try next.

Have you tried using a different web browser; ie Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge?

Will they play through 3rd party sites; eg try to play a video that is embedded in a forum post?

When you did a restore did you do it to reset it to a previous version, ie the settings that were used last week?

My computer knowledge is pretty abysmal but if absolutely nothing at all works then I would suspect the problem is in the video driver software of your computer.

My computer skills are abysmal also, scanning the web for clues, I came across a suggestion of setting my Chrome browser to "incognito mode" and wallah, I can now watch Youtube videos again.

Why is this so? It's a dirty fix so I'm hoping someone can suggest the proper fix

Usually when videos won't play it means that Adobe Flash has to be updated, which happens with monotonous regularity.

Hi Big Shed, I tried updating Flash which didn't change anything, also I did fiddle around with some flash settings, and I don't know what I did, which is annoying, but Youtube videos are now playing as before.

There where two settings somewhere that said, "run flash" and "ask before before running flash". Both were ticked so un-ticked "ask before running flash".

Have you tried clearing you cookies/cache?
To clear specific cookies i.e. YouTube only, try this: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
To clear all cookies, see this: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050

YouTube dropped Adobe Flash for HTML 5 in 2015, so unless you have a really old browser or OS... it shouldn't matter.
