    Default Cleaning up Autoplay

I have multiple instances of my cameras in Autoplay and I would like to delete them. From what I have discovered it looks like I have to modify/edit my registry.
    Is this the only way?

    O/S is Win 7.

You have 3 listings for one camera model and 2 for a different model. This has most likely arisen because the camera's have been connected to different logical USB ports at different times. I am not sure how to trim the instances down to one for each camera, but I suggest that you check Control Panel Device Manager, and you might find multiple instances of the cameras and be able to disable or delete some. However, if that works, and you then connect a camera to a logical USB port for which you have disabled the connection, the computer may not recognise the camera and run autoplay for it. On the other hand if you delete the connections, and then try to reuse them by connecting the camera, the system will reinstall the drivers etc for the connection anyway, the same as it would if it was a new unknown device on the connection, which can cause frustrating delays while it tries to locate drivers etc. and configure them.

Since these multiple instances don't impose a significant burden on the system when the camera are not not connected, I would be tempted to leave the multiple instances set to 'Always ask'. That way you get some choice of action whenever you connect, but fairly minimal delays and system burdens otherwise.

I have managed to remove all the Canon devices by editing my registry, plus I removed the Gigabeat that I no longer have.
