Computer Brown Thumbs!
I don;t know why but computers and I have a dislike for each other!1
I had a whole file of pictures from a disc downloaded into a folder. It has simply vanished!!
I uploaded, with help from a computer expert ( and payment of some money to help learn the process ),some pictures to facebook and to a post here on WW forums.
I wrote all the steps down and these were checked by said expert. Cannot get the result I want again!!
I can reduce photos to so they can be placed on the forum. It is a tedious process but apparently needs to be done.
I simply cannot get my head around what seems to be a simple process for others!!

The first thing that needs to be said is that computers sense stress and then make it harder for us to do anything. Is this a Windows machine and if so what version of Windows?

Can you use a hosting company to upload your files to, then post the links into the forum?

For a quick and not-too-dirty method of photo reduction, on a windows computer, tap the PrtScr key on the upper right portion of the keyboard. This places a screen shot of your photo (or whatever) on the "clipboard." Then open the Paint program. Under the pull-down Edit menu, select Paste. Manipulate the image using the slider bars to crop as needed. Under the File pull-down menu, SaveAs your preferred file name. The attachment here has a file size of about 68Kb.

Go to File Explorer (on my Win10 machine, it's an icon like a manila folder on the extreme left when you hit the window icon or key)
after Explorer starts, type "*.jpg" (without the quote marks) into the search box near the upper right of the window
hit enter
Windows should return a list of all the picture files on your computer.
There are then commands (found under the mouse's right click menu) to jump to the folder where the picture files are stored.
for most of my photo editing, I use Sony's free Play Memories Home. (Down load from Sony's web site)
Play Memories has tools for cropping and resizing photos. Resizing can be made a batch operation.regards from Alberta, Canada

Why do I really Appreciate these Fora??
This is why!!
I have had another forumite come around and upload Irfanview for me. This allows me to do batches of sized
photos or do photos singularly. A big thanks to Jeff for his time!!!!
Many thanks to you all for your advice. I will probably have a look at the suggestions and see if they might
suit my addled brain!!
I have been extra busy with other tasks for the last week or so and will eventually get around to posting a few more photos.
Cheers, artme!!

My method, right click the image and using the context menu go to open with and select paint. In paint there is a resize menu at the top, select that and change the selector to pixels and I then change the largest size of the two boxes to about 1200 and the other box changes to stay in proportion. Save as and the file is automatically saved but you do lose the original image as it is not a copy but the original image resized.

when we got our 286 I think it was about 25/30 years ago.I would every so often write a 4/5 page epistle to all family members overseas, when I had finished typing the 'puter ask...'do you want to send?' Yes i would say, 'Do you want to save?' No would say I, (thinking Ive already sent it why would I want to save a family newsletter ) POOF screen would go blank....nothing to send, nothing to print. The neighbour next door always when when I was updating family,....he would hear me scream. much later just when getting ready to upgrade SWMBO found letter after letter and posted 3 years worth in one go, much to families mirth and my frustration.....I still haven't learnt a lot more
I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds
