    Default Free Microsoft Office 2010

Microsoft Office 2010 is available in beta version to trial and will function until the end of October this year for free. You can then uninstall it or buy it. so for the geeks who want to give it a trial, download it from Here It is a big download, over 600 MB so if you dont have a fast internet connection, you may be better off getting a copy from one of the free CDs given away with some of the computer mags at the moment.

I use Open Office. Sorry Bill.

Why would you bother when OpenOffice is free............ ALWAYS!

I'm with Ray, WordPerfect all the way

(And Open Office as a close second choice)
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

Looks good, though one work of caution - you are highly recommended to remove all previous versions of Office. This may mean that new docs have compatibility issues with older versions (especially if you email them to people) and if some feature crashes your machine or doesn't work properly (this is a beta, after all), you can't just fire up an older version of office...

    Cheers,
    Dave

Don't understand your comment. Are you saying open source is a good thing or a bad thing. I've been using OpenOffice and Paint.Net, both open source (AFAIK) and they're both excellent programs AND free.

Sorry John, only just caught up with your post. Open source doesn't make the program better or worse but open source does mean hackers and bad guys can play around with the program source codes and depending where you may get the software, can and may be fraught with danger.

Don't get me wrong, if I didn't hve a copy of Microsoft Office, there is no way I would pay for it at its current price and I would probably take my chances and install Open Office. I was merely giving a reason why some people would not install it.
