Is that the latest ASUS android netbook or another brand, Soundman? Dual boot is what I'm after, especially in a netbook.

android
G'day Y'all
Android OS belongs to the folks at Google and is based on a Linnux kernel and is designed to run smartphones or mobile devices.
It will not have all the garbage problems that come with MS.
There are over 250 apps for it now and more coming.
I run Ubuntu which is a Linux derivative and would not go back to MS if they paid me.

The only problem will lack of compatabilty with the world. I mean such things as office products, flash video etc. But for general browsing and email, nothing better

exactly that. I got the first EEE, the linux version, 7". I absolutely love it and would still be using it but the wireless encryption isn't very strong. I'd prefer to upgrade to the latest EEE seashell, with SSD 32 gb, but it is completely android and I actually would prefer dual boot, android for when I'm surfing and windows for work purposes.

Android may or may not be the way of the future but at the moment limited use with apps.
Reality is no background music.

sorry I haven't posted back earlier.....been bussy preparing for a trip away.
The machine in question is an acer aspire one D257.
comes dual boot windows 7 starter and android.
I was interested in the ASUS, as I have had a good run out of ASUS motherboards...but there simply don't seem to be any ASUS netbooks being offererd at the moment....only tablets.
I looked at the eepc version bit it seemed crappier than the acer branded item and was less than $50 cheaper.
running the android system on a network cable it seems pretty damn lickety split compared to the MS os, but I am using W7 to interface with my phone.
Yeh there ARE lots of android apps out there, but they are mostly intended for phones.
The other thing is the scroll function does not work in android.
I'm still getting my head arround this machine...it has good features that some don't have.....like an ethernet port.
The pointing device seems OK..such that any of them are..certainly better than the one on the eepc.
Comes wireless ethernet equiped but no bluetooth.
I must trot down to Mcdonnalds, & see if I can fire up on their open wifi point.
Not that that is at all helpfull in most country towns.....no Mcdonnalds in Bilo or Prosopine.
