    Default Scanner issues

I am trying to scan documents in to my computer via WiFi, and not having much luck.
I can send a document from the computer for printing, but cannot get a scan to go from printer to computer.

    O/S: Windows 7
    Printer: Canon MX870

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Printers & scanners on Wifi are weird.

Printers work fine on networks, scanners are still weird.

Scanners work best on a USB cable or using Scan To USB or E-Mail from the front panel of the scanner (if it is available)

Just my experience, lost a LOT of hair gaining that experience.

Have you tried an application such as VueScan?

You have to pay for VueScan (not much...), but it saved me having to junk a perfectly good older scanner (Canon) and buy a new one.

Put this down to the usual manufacturer trick of not updating scanner drivers for compatibility with new Windows version (Win 7 64-bit in my case), but VueScan restored full scanner functionality quickly and easily. Mind you, my scanner is so old that it requires a USB connection to the PC. Thanks Canon (NOT)....

Thanks all for your input. Problem solved by doing the bleeding obvious. Called Canon support, they sent me links to updated driver, updated on screen manual, updated Canon network tool and everything is hunky dory.
