So the new phone arrived today.
I've got the sim card in it and can dial numbers.
I've linked my Gmail account, and have been able to send myself an email.
and now I'm completely lost - no clue on what to do next.
It looks like I'll have to recreate all the phone contacts manually. I do have a backup on the laptop of the old phone but I don't seem to be able to get anything connected by Bluetooth.
Is there something I can read on how to operate a Smartphone?

I have just taken a full backup of the Nokia 6110 onto my laptop, but I'm wondering how the new phone can access that file, or indeed IF it can access it. I suspect not.
The file name is
....\AppData\Roaming\Nokia\ContentCopier\BRETT'S 6110_17-9-2108.nbu
and I suspect that nbu is Nokia Back Up?

I think I once used Method 3, but it was a loooong time ago. Nbu is definitely a Nokia proprietary format, but there are apps to extract info from it.

Thanks Mr B, I'll have a look at that.

Take the new and old phone to a retail shop of your provider (Optus, Telstra etc.) and ask one of the young lads or lassies for a bit of help. They are usually very helpful.

I assume there is something in the instruction manual or online manual that will help you transfer/copy the contact list

Brett
you should be able to export your Nokia 6110 address list as a CSV file. There may be some stuffing around as AFAIK Nokia's file formats were proprietary so some intermediate steps may be required.
alternatively, and perhaps easier, can you copy your Nokia contacts to the SIM card? and then import from the SIM card into the new phone?regards from Alberta, Canada

If you have a Google account, all your contacts will be there as soon as you log into Google from your android. Your photos will also be there.

AFAIK the contacts have to be copied one at a time to the sim card which may take *quite some time*. I'm yet to hook into Mr Brush's link properly
This is the first Smart Phone I've had, and whilst I have a Google account, it only has email addresses at this point. I suppose I could update those contacts with phone numbers and create other contacts for the phone number only contacts that are only in the old Nokia phone. At least that way I would be using a proper keyboard. No photos there either, for the same reason.
Yes I did spot a few links to Youtube Matt, but haven't had a chance to look at them yet.
It seems extraordinary that the manufacturer doean't have a user guide on their website. It seems even more ridiculous that android.com has NOTHING whatsoever about using their operating system.
This seems to be a recurring theme with technology of this century - you are already supposed to know how it works! That is very very poor marketing indeed.
Way back in 2002 I purchased an electronic diary that also had simple Excel etc in it. It came with a DVD user guide. I purchased it because I had no computer at that point, but needed the diary function. The DVD was, of course, quite useless to me. I get why no paper manual comes with a SMart Phone (way too big) but surely it isn't too much to ask for a PDF?
