I started being a Windows user with 95, before that Geos on a Commodore, DOS 6.22 etc I have never had the issues that a lot complain of apart from the BSOD very early on. I did skip the most troublesome versions such ass Vista etc so maybe that has something to do with it. 10 have been absolutely trouble free from day one even though I have removed a lot of stuff I did not want and blocked their data collection as much as is possible but they still do get their data so all that does is make me feel good. I reverted back to 7 when the first update occurred because Dell refused to do drivers for the mouse pad but that was not an MS problem and that computer bit the dust shortly afterwards anyway.

No chance you have a thread on that somewhere? Have you had to do any fun stuff with CANBUS to get the tablet to make sense of the info it receives?
I have found the opposite with 8 and 10, 8 booted far quicker on both laptops, ran cooler and used less resources. Ten worked but I liked Windows because I have a functioning brain that can make decisions on how my computer should do things, 10 did too much automatically and I found it annoying. If I want a machine that does everything for me I'd buy an apple, they do it better because they only have to make the OS run on a few pieces of hardware. I will probably buy another Windows phone if they release a new one, phone 10 works pretty well, excluding the massive lack of apps.

Hi, I'm a bit worried with going off topic in this tread, however with Boot time - that totally depends on the motherboard and UEFI and the SSD. I can cold boot Windows 10 in 6 seconds on most newer MB's. The only reason the small PC takes 9 seconds (resuming in this case) is because the SSD is slow.
Windows 10 does not do anything I don't want it to do with the possible exception of updates, which can't be deferred forever (unless you disconnect from the NET). I used to manually switch of some windows background programs after each update, however in the end I just grabbed a small app that basically turned off all Win-10 housekeeping background DISK IO - (All drives are SSD with the exception of a big internal backup HDD - I auto backup daily) of course I have a number of rotating backups in separate locations.
I boot straight to the desktop, not the W-10 Start screen - almost never use it. The Vehicle boots straight to my Front End SW. To me it's exactly the same a WIN-8 but stable. Like Chief Tiff and others, I turn off all Feedback, advertising, location, camera , and microphone usage, and the list goes on.
On the subject of the CAR - This is an old (2004) vehicle, advanced for it's time and although it has CAN bus, Diagnostics, and everything is electronic, the Music system and Dual Climate control system have limited CAN BUS integration - Climate control (microprocessor) is part of the Audio board - I managed to cut the board down to just isolate the HVAC section, found an undocumented data stream, found infor on the chips used on the board and interfaced that control line to a Microprocessor, wrote the code for the micro and that is what interfaces the Climate Control to the CAR-PC. I wrote the Front-End software for the PC and that includes graphical and hardware control of the Climate control, made an iDrive panel, everything is controlled either by touch screen or Hardware controls on the iDrive. The system is totally self start and close - no intervention is ever needed.
Here is a basic idea of what it is. It my look complex to some people - trust me when I say - this has been 100% reliable -not a single fault in any hardware of programmed micro. It's been running for years, some driving trips for weeks at a time and driving every day for most of the day.

Wow, that is a serious amount of work, well and truly beyond my capabilities.
Does the Audio DSP do any EQ or time alignment at all?
The OP has the issue worked out so I'm sure the derail is fine

Thanks, does everything but time alignment, I'm too old to worry abut that now - BTW we should likely stop talking about this here as in fairness to the thread., it's getting away from the original topic, but thank you for comments though.
EDIT - Just read your last comment - understand but I'd really rather not tread on someone's thread.
Mike.
