Thread: Which wheels?

Nothing more annoying than breaking spokes. And why do they break when the bike is new? I had one fixed, then when it happened again, had all the spokes replaced. Probably could have bought another wheel.

It cost me $30 to replace one spoke so it's not going to take many more to justify a new set. I'm guessing the wheels are around 5-6 years old (I got the bike second hand) and if I just rebuild then I'm still running old hubs & rims and will still cost similar to a new set from Wiggle. If I have to purchase I'm swaying towards the RS80's... you can never have too much carbon

Have you checked CRC or Probike kit?

I only had a look through Wiggle which doesn't seem to have either CRC or Probike. As an aside, my bike was introduced to a car last week so I'm waiting for the third party's insurance to be sorted out and get the bike fixed. Unfortunately the wheels were still running true afterwards so no new ones just yet

How'd you fair in the altercation?

Bruised shoulder, grazed elbow and a few other cuts & scratches. Bike is fixable too. New carbon forks, 105 shifters, grip tape and a service ($950) to fix up my ride. Would have loved to upgrade but don't have the $$$ to do the step up I'm after.

I was riding up Bondi Rd from Bondi towards Bondi Junction and had a van throw his door open infront of me. I tried to swerve but not enough warning and collected the door with my left shoulder then went over the handlebars into oncoming traffic. Was pretty lucky as traffic was light so got the bike and myself off the road. The third party hung around and his insurance or pocket will be fixing my bike

That's good and surprising how quick you can leap up off the road, when that happens.

I know, been there done that.

Ummm, sorry you must have misunderstood me about the last post.

CRC = Chainreaction cycles = www.chainreactioncycles.com they are a large online UK bike retailer, usually with better prices than wiggle.co.uk but with a higher minimum delivery (but this will not concern you as the wheels will meet the minimum spend).
The same for probikekit, www.probikekit.com.au
You can also try www.jensonusa.com or www.pricepoint.com. Of the two from the USA Jenson is easier to deal with.

For an Aussie try www.bikeexchange.com.au as they list many retailers and private sellers on one page.

Just thought I would pass this on for when you are ready to buy.

Which wheels would I go for? If youre not racing then I'd give the Shimano carbon wheels a miss...I'd probably go for the Fulcrums.
