Thought it was a bit salty!

    Definitely coming home now!

    Default Update

I had been away in NSW without access to the internet for nearly a fortnight and during that time the first of my purchases from the buy, the MCW Aluminium vice, arrived. I finally got to open it today. What a really nice bit of gear. I was surprised at just how heavy it is.

I have a few little pieces of trivia that I trot out with monotonous regularity. For example:

Did you know that Brasil is larger than Australia?
Where I live in Queensland it is still further to Cairns than Melbourne!

And the last one, for which you will start to realise the relevance, which is heavier aluminium or glass? It is aluminium, but admittedly not by much. We tend to think of it the other way around because we picture soft drink cans rather than solid billets.

The front of the MCW vice is 20mm thick and the whole contraption is heavy. Too heavy for the kitchen scales.

I know that I am lucky in receiving this item so quickly, which was because they were available from stock, but I felt duty bound to point out that the delivery process for the group buy has indeed commenced.

SWMBO has been guarding it with her life since it arrived, but I mentioned that it was time to give up her life of vice.

Thanks to Brett and MCW for starting the ball rolling.

    Regards
    Paul

    Good to hear Paul.

So, ah, when do we get reports of the how the vise performs in the new bench?

When the tree has been felled, the log sawn, the timber dried and the bench built. At this stage there is a blue crayon mark on the tree. But on the positive side there is a plan and with the vice acquistion I can claim the process has begun.
