BUY SELL n SWAP - PHASE OUT
As of today Buy Sell n Swap is being phased out and will soon; no longer exist.
in its place THE MARKET PLACE has been set up with a number of sub forums, Hopefully making it easier to find particular items of special interest.
Speciffic group forums have been set up after repeated requests, for Metalwork, Musical Instruments and Timber along with Marine and others.
Hopefully this will mean that a post will stay viewable formuch longer giving sellers and buyers a better chance of finding each other.
For the moment THE MARKET PLACE can only be accessed via this url: https://www.woodworkforums.com/f220 or by clicking on the adds (links) already in the Buy Sell n Swap forum and you will be automatically redirected. The forum is not available on the home pages as yet
Soon a full listing of links will appear in the left hand side paner so you can go directly to Tha Market Place from any page in the forums.
There will undoubtably, be teething problems and I'm sure some people won't like it at all but hey, stuff happens. Don't whine about it straight off give it a fair go.
If you have any constructive criticism or helpful advice please feel free to put it in this thread. But please think first and don't just chuck a little kiddy tantrum because it's different or it doesn't suit you.
Cheers - Neil

Maybe with this new forum set up (which I like by the way) we can do away with the "For Sale" tag and just leave the location tag??
Still, thanks for the update. Nice work!!<Insert witty remark here>

Fair enough. I just had a look at the new forum though and everything was highlighted as For Sale - meaning that nothing was highlighted...
However, I am not really fussed either way. So I withdraw my comment!<Insert witty remark here>

So when the other one goes, will the market become another sub-forum, or stay a separate forum linked to this one?

New concept
I have no real objection if it makes it easier for the administrators. Having said that I have enjoyed looking at many of the for sale items on the basis that it might be usefull and what will one cost. Having a dedicated site will stop buyers seeing something for sale in their district that they may like to own but never felt strongly enough to go out and buy. I suppose it can be argued that it will save some members from buying something that is not really essential but on the other hand the sellers looses the opportunity to sell something to a spontaneous buyer.
You can't please all of the people all of the time so go for what is best for the administrators as they are the ones that do all the work.

I originally had this thought too - i like to see what is being sold and think - yep i could use that.
But
Then i thought about how i use the forum and when i first logon for the day i go to Quick links - todays posts or New posts and check for changes that might interest me back to where i left off.
Then after i check back to where i last watched i go to iSpy and just watch the posts as they come along.
With this methiod all entries in every section are displayed before me so i wont be inconvenienced by having them "split up" at all.
firstly - If this system doesnt make more work for the mods and
secondly - makes other members happier then i am all for it.
Never fails to amaze me Neil you keep trying to improve it for all. Keep up the good work
Cheersregards

I like it. I think it will be great for all of us.
One little question, don't know if its viable or not. Could the "For Sale and location" tabs be colour coded so we can identify items for sale or wanted in our own state. something like this.
For Sale QLD
For Sale NSW
For Sale VIC
and so on. Colour for each state so we can immediately pick out the stuff for sale in our own state. This could also apply to items in the wanted forum. Can anyone see a problem with that idea?Reality is no background music.
Cheers John
