I hate to tell you guys but there is nothing west of Meeka but Mulga and red dirt, an a few King Browns, Bungarras, some really dodgey mine shafts, some bits of my old landcruiser and a blown out 22.5 inch truck tyre...or three.
Yous must be talking about East Meekatharra.

Sqizz, last time I was west of Meekathara I popped into the Gascoyne Junction pub for a pie.
We then hopped on our bikes and rode north, north east to Mt Augustus. You know that little monolith which is 2½ times bigger than Ayres Rock.
Great place, great scenery and beautiful country.
Plenty of things to see, open your eyes!
Mick.

Mick, Yes, the big Boondy, know it well. As a kid I nearly died in the Billabong on the East side. 44 degree day, so jumped in to swim across, only just made it to the other side with thermal shock (artesian spring at about 5 degrees) (There is a camping ground with toilets now:eek: ).
What was this thread about???...Pancakes anyone

In case you were wondering
I guess I'm pretty well qualified to comment on this, as I am the owner. We decided several months ago to cease being part of the CARBA-TEC group, for a variety of reasons, but the main one was that we wanted independence, to carry products other than the CARBA-TEC ones. Our agreement with CARBA-TEC stated that we shouldn't import goods that directly compete against the goods that CARBA-TEC import and that we should not buy our stock from competitors of CARBA-TEC, and fair enough too, if one is part of a group then you pull with the group.
With tremendous growth of the business in recent years it has become important for us to have more control of our buying, we really need to do more of our buying direct and be able to cut out one more middle man. We think that the old line of supply, ie. Manufacturer - Wholesaler - Retailer is probably coming to an end, and that to survive in this industry in the future we must become more competitive and wherever possible source our stock direct from the manufacturer.
So in a nutshell, if we had carried through with our future plans it would have contravened the agreement that we had with CARBA-TEC.
What of the future, and how these changes affect our customers, well for a start we still carry product from CARBA-TEC despite the fact that we are no longer officially part of the group we parted on ammicable terms. Visitors to the store will notice that there are some new brands starting to appear on the shelves a most of which we have sourced directly from local and overseas manufacturers , later this year and early next we will start importing a lot of our own higher turnover machinery lines, the slower moving lines we will still source from local importers including CARBA-TEC, Timbecon, Leeda, WMS, etc. The store is still at 6/145 Gladstone Street in beautiful downtown Fyshwick ACT the phone number is still 6280 0620 and the same same ugly blokes still work there.
The name Blue Dingo has been around for some time with our other business "Blue Dingo Motorcycle Apparel" so it seemed natural to use it for the woodworking tool business too ( someone sugested that we should start a "Blue Dingo Childminding Service" )
There, now you know, there's no need to start rumors or any other nonsence.
Cheers
Graeme

Thanks Graeme.
Although I live in Sydney, and therefore am not as likely as a Canberran to be purchasing from you, your explaination of the situation is appreciated.
It's also a very good way to scotch rumour and innuendo.
Cheers

Yep, definitely nice to think somebody cares enough about this motly bunch to fill us in. Well done Graeme
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.
