Our Christmas - Let's see you top this one.
Our Christmas and New Year
18th December "U" enters hospital for day surgery on bladder and a prostate biopsy - "U" returns home with strict instructions to do nothing for the next 3 days.
19th December "Beauts" mother passes away (much sadness).
21st, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, "U" and "Beaut" do lots of running around and organizing for funeral etc. to be held on 24th. "U" threatens to kill maim or commit, useless brother in law (who is staying with us).
24th Day of funeral. "U's" water works stop working. (I told you to do nothing for 3 days) 7am Doorstop rushes "U" to Emergency at Geelong Hospital where a catheter (piece of 20mm water hose shoved down the end of the old fella) is fitted along with a leg bag for convenient, semi private peeing. We make it to the funeral in Melbourne with 2 minutes to spare.
25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, Spent in extreme discomfort.
29th the Home Nursing Service come and remove the garden hose. Ah such relief.
30th 6am "U" again taken to Emergency. This time they dispense with the garden hose and go straight for the fire hose complete with brass fittings. "U" admitted to hospital for an extended stay.
31st "Beaut's" birthday I have her sneaked in to the ward at 11:45pm to watch the fire works over the bay at Geelong. Had a birdseye view from the windows in the room. 12:15 "Beaut" goes home 2:00 am 'U's" temperature peaks at 40.7deg and stays well over normal for the rest of the night.
1st - 3rd "U's" temp ranges between 38 & 40 and he drifts in and out of this time and some alternate reality which really wasn't a nice place to be. On the morning of the 3rd they finally remove the fire hose. Hopefully for the last time.
5th Jan. Return home with strict orders to do nothing for at least a week. Can't do anything anyway the weird medication they have me on makes me want to fall down every time I try to stand up.
Today 9th January. Look out, I'm back. The body has just about become used to the medication and I only fall down occasionally. I can finally type a sentence that almost makes sense and is coming to visit thisarvo, how much more could one ask for.
The major surgery has been averted for a little while (weeks, maybe months or even a year) but is inevitable. I shudder to think of the size hose they will use then.........
Cheers - Neil
PS I'm not sure what we have planned for Easter but it certainly will be hard to top our Christmas.

Neil the only way to get well is to do what the doctors order so take it easy.
As for Easter I know a good nursing home that take tempory respite patients
BTW it is good to hear Doorstop is still around and not sucked up into a cyclone with his woodshavings.

I guess I can stop tapping my toe on the floor and wait for my wax and stuff now ... barely.
Seriously though, get well soon Neil. And remember, when the old fella is involved, DO WHAT THE BLUDDY DOC SAYS.

All I can say is that I've had to install those garden hoses in my previous career and it aint fun for anyone involved. Gotta be really careful! )
Hope all is going well and your major surgery (whenever it is) isn't a repeat of your above storyHow much wood could the woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck could chuck wood?
