Hi to You All,
I had the Pleasure on Sat.23rd. to attend by Invitation to Brendan Stemp's Woodturning Demo at the Koonung Woodies Group, Vic.
There were approx 40 people there & Pres. Dianna B got the proceeding's under way by 9.15am.
Brendan started off with a couple of Jokes, then said he would do a Salt & Pepper Grinder, with the newish ceramic insert, that is not supposed to wear out. A bit Expensive but quite worth it.
Using Houn Pine & His Various Hole Boring Devices, Brendan showed us his Roughing Gouge, sharpened a different way, so as he could Plane the wood to a very smooth finish, then using the Colour Coded Sandpaper. It was a Small Lathe he was given to use, & had to shorten the wood. No problems to Brendan.
Most of his Tools now have TCT Pieces attached to them as these Gumnuts are so hard, the Best HSS will not stand up to them.
Later on he showed us how he did his Epoxy Resin Gumnut & Stick Bowls + there were some finished, he had there, for all to see as well.
Our BBQ Lunch was Passionately Cooked by a Few Stalwarts of this Great Club, & with Tea, Coffee, Cake & Biscuits.
We were well looked after.
After 30 years of Turning one can still learn on one of these days.
Thank you Brendan & Koonung for a Great Day.
