    I will do my best to buy more of Neil's products, but if he should ever change his mind about subscriptions......then I am in.

    Question???? If Giggle income dropped off with the intro of tabs, then why not get rid of tabs completely??

    Couldn't agree more. I even had to build a knock-up cabinet to take more U-Beaut stuff.

    I agree about supporting Neil through buying UBeaut stuff.

    though to be honest, when I said 'Hi' to Neil at the WW show in Syd last month and identified myself as a WWF member, he promised to speak real slow for me

    Still, I bought a bunch of stuff off him, and will continue to do so!

    As for a subscription fee, if I had to add up how much money I've spent since I joined these forums... Wood from Studley, Triton setup, etc, etc... well, let's just say I don't keep a running total

    Thanks to Neil and the Mods for keeing this place great. I guess patronage and contribution is the best support. Oh, and buy more UBeaut stuff!

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Dave, Dave, Dave, the bald, yet strangely attractive boofhead (sorry Chris) you spoke to in Sydney probably said he'd speak real slow because I (Neil) was still in Geelong working and didn't go to Sydney this year.

    Cheers - Neil (the one with hair)

    I don't expect this to change anyones mind-
    but another forum I use (a US landcruiser forum for my BJ42) has something called silver star membership.
    Normal membership is free as per here with total access and normal privileges. IF people wish to donate/subscribe to silver star membership, then they can at US$20 per year.
    It's totally optional, allowing some to simply contribute to a forum they greatly value, allowing others some actual benefits they seek (such as the PM limit- which would be a great thing for any regular forum user) for a reasonable price... etc.

    this is what it gets you on that forum

    Silver Star Member
    * Silver Star next to your username
    * Animated avatars
    * Unlimited Attachment directory
    * PM limit of 500
    * Personalize your User Title
    * Option to "hide" online

    there you go... I'm crap at recognising people I've never met!!! Maybe it was just as well that he spoke real slow to me then

    Still bought a bunch of your stuff though!

    If it means having more ads to keep the forum alive, go for it. The ads have never worried me and most of them are pertinent to woodworking anyway.
    I would gladly pay an annual subscription to be a member but Neil doesn't want that and I can understand where he is coming from.

    Can I actually second the motion that there could be the option of paying a fee for 'silver star' mebership.

    The benefits don't need to be a lot - hosting of more photos, pretty little silver star and maybe even a bigger PM limit would be all.

    I'd happily pay $20 a year for that as it is basically putting your hand up to say that you're prepared to support this great resource...

    Just my 2c worth.

    Oh, and the google adds are fine by me too. I am actually a member of another website which, among other things, removes adds for paying members. Another angle to consider...

    Except that would be a negative if Neil were at the negotiating table with someone wanting to advertise.

    I'm a member at SawMill Creek, or is Routing Forum (either way I'm a member at both - visit it once in a blue moon) but one of them has ads left right and centre in posts which is very annoying, but in the current format here with them appearing like banner ads and if it makes Neil sleep better at night and keeps his hands out of his pockets bring more on by all means.
