HEADS UP - Melb TWWS 2018
Received my Australian Woodworker yesterday and there is an advert from the organisers that the Melb TWWS this year will be at Seaworks in Nelson Place, Williamstown on Sept 7 to 9th

Had heard it was moving to Williamstown but didn't know where. My side of town too yay. Looks like a nice rustic building which should add to the ambiance from what I see on google maps, and it's easy to get to.

That's great news. Venue looks like it will be pretty good with a bit of interest outside the Show as well.
Would have been nice to see the event date moved away from the same weekend as Down Under Turn Around.
DUTA hasn't changed their dates for over 20 years as it's the only weekend available. U-Beaut may well have been back if the date was changed, so would the many really keen woodturners who used to attend the show for all 3 days, but choose miss out on the show due to their over 20 years of loyalty and love of DUTA.

I see they have moved Brisbane to March 23-25 instead of May. Brilliant and long overdue idea to get it away from the Maleny Wood Expo weekend. Top thinking.
However, that same weekend is the weekend of Turnfest 2018 one of the biggest events on the woodturning Calendar with 15 presenters from around Australia and the world.
Admittedly it's not in Brisbane but it is at Sea World Resort, a bit over an hour down the road.
Very disappointing that two of their shows should clash with big woodturning weekends in the same states as the show.
It almost seems like the organisers don't care about woodturners or their events.
Oh and look Sydney Show is on the same weekend as 2018 Australian Woodturning Exhibition AWTEX. Thank goodness AWTEX is in Melbourne and not Sydney.

That could be another reason why the show seems to be shrinking in size. Not sure how much space is available in Willamstown (Victoria) but I doubt there will be the same amount of free car parking as Caulfield.
