How much time do you need young fella?
Okay... now Im back for a week I will discuss my situation as it stands
First Im off on Tuesday next for a two week stint... so the 12th is out for me... hell of a long way for me to fly back from the desert and I dont think the boss would go for it... just a wee feeling Ive got "Oi dipstick I need a flight back for Sat 11th alright? nah mate I'll be back on Mondy the 13th okay no worries! nah no probs just need to go to a barbie on Sundy thats all meet some fellas an sheilas Ive been yakkin with but I'll be right back afta" yeah right buggars a right spoilsport
So where I land is here now for a week leave again Tues 7th and return again on the 21st
So either this weekend... bit of a rush job... or the weekend of the 25th/26th November... bit far away given youve got it pretty well sussed now
So given the above... I say go for broke for the 12th accept my appologies someone knick some REAL special timber from the Missan mob for me and have a bloody great time
Sorta reminds me of the old movie "Sunday too far away" eh? this ones too close an that ones too far away never mind!! Go for it mates save me a beer an a prawn or two and let me know when the next one is... I'll change the damned roster if I have to!! break my leg bust an arm tell the boss to take a Fn... ffffffffffflamin Fn.... fffffffflyin... leap of a long log!! damnit if only someone would offer me a job closer to home that pays near as well and Id say kiss my wee little backside sonshine an move back to work down here!! but I dont think thats gonna happen just yet so I hang in there and hope it gets bedda
Anyone won lotto lately? I mean I dont want much lets say ooohhh 400,000 would do but heck I'll take 200,000 enough to get outta debt with the mortguage thing and a bit in the ol pocket and that would do the trick! and then stuff the minin game!! Im soooooooooooooooo over itBelieve me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

That's a cryin' shame Dingo, but having said that I am personally in no flamin hurry to get the meet and greet over with. Putting it off for two weeks would not be a problem for me, but I am happy to bow to the wishes of the majority. It does make the timing closer to Xmas, which brings its own problems and may make it harder for some others to attend.
Over to the masses for consensus on a date.
Regards
Larry

I agree Larry
I feel it's wrong that we can meet without Dingo who was the instigator of this event. I also agree that if it's put off it might end up after Christmas.
Either way I don't mind.

Webbers aren't much chop for a barbie ... better for roasts etc. If we are just having a barbie then it would be better to get hold of a portable plate type... quicker easier with a better heat distribution on the plate. If you want to throw in a few bucks each I can buy a roast to whack in the webber ... take about 2 hrs ... nice on rolls ... thoughts??Ramps

Because I mainly make small things I currently am not in the market for slabs/planks (unless of course a piece talks to me . . . "Take me home I want to be a XXXXX" . . . . . ). I am very interested in offcut size bits of any interesting stuff and of course I am prepared to pay for the providors inconvenience of handling of small stuff etc.

Now come on! Why do all you fellas think that we need only one date?
I suggest that we take up Derek's kind offer - and he can choose either 11th or 12th. BTW Derek, I'm in.
The second event (perhaps in the new year) might be at Wild Dingo's shed!

Thanks for the vote Pete, but we are meeting at Kerry this time. I am very happy to host another meeting in a couple of months, one that Dingo will attend (Gawd help us! ).
So to confirm - I will be at Kerry on Sunday morning (the 12th). I shall bring along some sharpening gear for plane and chisel blades, be ready to demonstrate scrapers, and may also do some beading with scratch stock. I shall have a few show-and-tell items - interesting planes and handsaws, a few tools I have made. I hope you will be doing the same.
Kerry - let us know if there is any change in plan.
Regards
Derek

Okay fellas... bring the missus!! Be a worry for young Kerry if a swarm of old and wanna be old pharts turn up with no sheilas in tow... mind you... nah!
From what I saw when I was there she had...
A HUMUNGOUS table... I mean bloody humungous!
A barbie... so given numbers a second could be right handy
A large undercover area... this I was thinking would be ideal for demos as well as feasting
A shed... double garage actually... theres also the wee woodshed down the back... tools... no huge tools like the 15in thicknesser style but tools!! Bandysaw tablesaw routers dustys lathes etc... womans shed indeed Kerry! enough tools in there to keep any bloke happy for many a hour/day/week/month/year
A friendly... okay overfriendly set of dogs cats as always just smirked and waltzed away
A note of Kemeko Kerry herself... believe me she is a friendly effervescent woman who will keep you and your missus entertained for hours
Oh one last thing... dont just let Derek be the sole demonstrator everyone has something they can do a demo on!! Just ask Kerry to give a demo on the wee router and how she does her doors!! keep yer spell bound for some time believe me mind you Im easily spellbound mention tools and what they do and Im gone
Glad we managed to get this up and running... special thanks to Gaz who jumped in when I momentarily lost momentum... extra special thanks to Kerry who is great enough to let this happen at her home... Sorry I cant be there but next time we will wangle it eh... Enjoy the day people I'll toast you all with a crownie in the wet mess when my day is done
ooooh if anyone notices a nice wee peice of timber from Missans collection whisperin my name can you just grab hold of it and let me know? Cheers!Believe me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

Hey all,
Unfortunatly, I am not going to be able to attend the GTG. All sorts of personal circumstances have come up.
Hope you all have a great time, look forward to reading about it.

I hate to do this but it's unavoidable.
I can't make it either. I have to make myself available for meetings over the weekend. Although I probably won't be needed on Sunday, it's a possibility. Consequently I won't be able to make it to the get-together.
I hope you all have a good time. Catch you next time.
