From the Showgrounds maps there is parking in front of the building, but no reference to disabled parking, and there are no toilets in building no 4 where the show is being held.
The nearest toilets, including disabled, are in building no 5 which is quite a dash for the abled and a long slow walk for disabled or elderly persons.
Consequently I won't be going.
Peter.

I think nearly all of them are going to Wood Dust at Footscray next weekend. $10 admission, free on-street parking after 1pm Saturday

HI Doug,
We are drawing up the show map this week and hope to publish this ASAP with all exhibitor and venue details (this will be similar to the maps we have produced for our other shows). Unfortunately, in order to finalise the map, space and facilities we do have to wait on details from the venue and also our exhibitor. Being a major venue, be rest assured that the facilities will be accessible for everyone ). We will get back to you asap.

I'm surprised that there's still nothing from organisers about wheelchair access and other concerns I've raised.

and
The parking is inside the grounds next to the venue, you enter through gate 5 or 7 and then drive across the grounds to the car park in front of building 4. This is the same parking area used when it was last at the show grounds but then parking was only $ 5.
As far as I'm aware the Show Grounds railway only runs during the Royal Melbourne Show and the Melbourne Cup week and not at other times. Public transport is limited to the tram and bus but for those not normally using public transport you will need to get a Myki card to use them.
I'm also surprised that there's still nothing from organisers about wheelchair access and other concerns raised.
Peter.

300% increase in parking costs is a little rough. Its probably out of the organisers hands I suppose. The showgrounds is a ghost town with the shows, you'd think they be a little more accommodating.
Was planning on taking my elderly father, but 2 tickets, parking and lunches adds up quick. I'll rather visit timbecon or carbatec with an extra $75 in my pocket to be honest.
Good luck guys

They have been advertising all these crafts/trades and selling tickets even before they seem to have any of them booked.
I have enquired numerous times through numerous avenues as to who will be participating and what they will be demonstrating for the advertised. I’m still waiting for a single response.…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

Hmm, I see a heck of a lot of negativity here. How about a little support?
It was asked when the new owners took over that a few items were addressed - a few I can remember were these
Venue - as the Caufield racecourse wasn't everyone's cup of tea (it was closer to home for me, but I understand that a more central location is preferred for people Vic wide).... This has now been changed. As it is closer to the heartbeat if the city then of course parking will be more expensive.
Dates - many turners mentioned that the dates double booked them for a regular event which had been going forever....thus date has now changed to accommodate the turners
Dwindling stall holder numbers - whilst we like to think we are quite a large hobby, the truth is that there are only so many traders and suppliers that our population can support. The organisers have tried to combat this by including more creative hobbies in the same field so as to create more buzz and hopefully more bums on seats and ticket sales.
Personally (and in just 12 months) I think these are some very major changes and can't wait to get along to support the show. 2 years ago the show was that poorly supported that I was surprised to see it continuing at all. These days with the internet, social media and fast international shipping, products are much more widely available than ever before and events such as this may disappear altogether without our support.
I understand people may have specific questions that they would like answered, and I know that certain things could be deal breakers..... But it's 1 day a year, so if walking an extra 50m or if a supplier isn't going to be there that you hoped would be, go anyway - provide support and you never know what else you could see that you would have otherwise missed.
I'm sure the operators are doing everything they can to make things as smooth and enjoyable for everyone (why would they want to make it difficult?) So that it will hopefully continue and begin to thrive again as it did (before my time, but I've heard great stories)
Hopefully I'll run into a few of you there on Friday! I'll have a grin on my face ear to ear as it's my 1 day a year the wife hands me the credit card and says 'just have fun'
Cheers all"All the gear and no idea"
