Morning all. Just got back here. Should`ve driven. Would been a whole lot quicker! Will never fly with Madonna Airways again. You know who I mean...like a ....Flight cancelled last night when I flew in from Hobart to Melbourne.Took them an hour to tell us.Then told we have to make our own arrangement for a new flight & no reimbursement as wasn`t a technical issue because it was the weather. No vacancies at the biggest motel opposite Tullarmarine airport. None down the road either.Got a bus into City thinking I`ll get a coach or sleeper carriage to Sydney. Offices closed. Bus back to Airport. Walked over to the big kangaroo. Booked a flight for 6am this morning. Could`ve got a return to Asia at the price. Slept in the airport. At least got a breakfast on board.Otherwise had a great time in Q/town.Removalists lobbed at 11am Wednesday & unloaded the two 20 footers without issue. The containers don`t travel on the ferry, they`re brought in by Tolls container ship to Burnie & roaded down.Stayed at the Railway Motel/pub.Good times.Publican drives a 29 Studie rat rod - The Villain. So hopefully three more weeks & that`s it then.

Either you've been deliberately dudded or you miss heard the announcement ...

Virgin Australia's Compensation and Assistance Policy http://www.virginaustralia.com/eu/en...sation-policy/
Cancellations due to Events Beyond Our Control such as bad weather, airport or traffic control issues.
We will move you to the next available Virgin Australia service to the same destination at no further cost.
If we’re unable to offer you an alternative flight until the next day, we will attempt to help you source hotel accommodation and transport to/from the hotel if required.
If you choose not to travel, we will waive cancellation fees and provide you with a credit (valid for 12 months).

looks to me like they decided that giving everyone a credit was cheaper than following the first two sentences of their policy
    regards from Alberta, Canada

Gday Ian. I can assure you we were all told the only help the staff there said was - sorry, its out of our hands. Here`s customer service number, you are going to have to make your own flight arrangements. Obviously the 'help line' was overloaded & few if any got through.I couldn`t get through using their desk phone. We were not offered accommodation help either.I will follow up tomorrow when I speak with my booking agent. gordo

you might get further if you followup yourself in writing.
from what you advise, Virgin appear to have been very naughty and if you don't at least get the value of your flight returned in cash, you may want to get the ACCC involved.

I can see Virgin arguing that you "elected" not to avail yourself of their cancellation policy and be rescheduled onto one of their Monday morning flights to Sydney -- flights that were probably full anyway!
