Default PORT ELLIOT SOUTH AUSTRALIA WOOD SHOW 6&7 October

Gooday friends and fellow forum members..

Its been a fair while since I was on here..been busy keeping the "wolf" from the door...looking after my family, health & mental & physical happiness.
This is a heads up to let you know I'm going to be at this show...
I'm taking 3 traditional shaving horses (a new "knock down" transportable model) for folk of all ages to try their hands on...I'm also taking already split billets of tassi blackwood & brunswick river cypress for the folk to make a pair of music sticks with...out of...if they want, they can use them and play some percussion with me when I do / play my "musical interludes"...country & hill blues.

I'm going to have a selection of exceptional bowl blanks with species including..aust red cedar, tassi blackwood, silky oak and highly figured camphor from a 1.8mtr diameter tree...with marbling..fiddle-back, quilting and lovely colour...
Spindle timber as 90x90 a metre long in dry silky oak, some tassi blackwood and red cedar.
Box making timbers and scroll saw wood in camphor, silky oak,mango..
Box making kits (in various sizes..up to holding a A4 document)...ready to assemble with "finger jointed" corners or for those of you with jigs.."plain ends"..
Camphor oblique slices and planks suited for breadboard making..
guitar making back & sides, select tops, finger board material, electric guitar bodies & "finished" bolt on necks, 3 string magnetic pick ups, select ...gorgeous solid body caps.

I will have some camphor logs and a "super jaws" to let kids (both young & older) to experience the art (hard work) of cross cut sawing...
I will be displaying 3 & 4 string cigar box guitars, a 1954 '403' Peugeot hubcap baritone ukelele, a HQ Holden hubcap electric guitar and during the course of the day, demonstrate these instruments in the way of some story telling on their history and songs sung & playing them with Blues music from that period...
Doug Collins, a wonderful whittler / carver ? has helped put this wood section together.
South Australia has, I've been led to believe, no wood-show as such for quite a while...Woodworking is a wonderful pastime you will agree...
I am going to help promote the uses of timber, offer folk awesome timbers at great prices and make some music / entertain folk and have some fun.
If you live in south Australia, or know someone there that may be interested in any of the above...please spread the news...
I'm looking at sourcing some bulk olive oil if anyone knows any growers...20, 40 or 60 litres price dependent.
ripe olives too if they are in season.
If you know me from the Timber & working with wood shows, drop in and say hello...if you want to have a chat about stuff..I drink black coffee..no sugar...or black tea, no sugar...(both piping hot)
If you are a player..drop bye for a play on one of my handcrafted instruments..

If you've got this far..thanks for reading.
    Have a great Life..
    Regards..
    Big Stan

Stan I will be there with bells on! I have started making guitars this year and have a love affair with it all now, can’t wait to see your handy work and have a chat. My latest is a baritone ukulele that my daughter designed. Cheers Cal
Here is my lineup so far

I would love to be there ..... we have even got a house down at Port Elliot this weekend.

Unfortunately it’s for a family weekend getaway and the wife wasn’t too keen on heading over to the show

Very keen to lend my support through attendance for SA based shows and it sounds like Doug and his team has put in plenty of work into this one. Hopefully it’s well attended and a huge success .... already pencilled in for next year.

Stan .... I might have a lead on olive oil. It’s a round about lead but I assume if they can help out they can contact you on the details on your website to discuss further?
