Good luck with the move Rocker, I'd love to live in a shed like that, but my wife has to be able to see the Story Bridge or she gets the shakes.
Where are you going to in the UK? I'm from the Midlands.Cheers, Richard

Hmmm rellies - friends - lifestyle - weather.......... What are you doing for them, what are you doing for you.........?
Hell of a decision to have to make - I'm sure you have given it due consideration but I agree with the poster above who made the suggestion of not burning all of your bridges.
All the best and keep in touch through the forum.
Regards,
Bob

Hi Rocker,
As others have said, all the best with the move. Hope you can continue with your woodwork back home and keep us posted.
I think your rocker is an icon and it is on my to-do list.
Cheers

Hi Rocker
Concur with what everyone says...but JillB has a very good point. Like you, am a retired POM, stepped ashore at Pyrmont Number 2 50 yrs and 12 days ago. Have been back to visit, as all my family are still there, but always had the feeling it was a case of...'Good to see you, when are you going back'. They were all still in the same puddle they were dropped in while we had the b*#lls to go off and make a go of it, and as in your case, a successful one.
When we bought the house we are in now as a holiday house...needed a fridge, found one in the local paper and went to pick it up...down at Burrum Heads on Hervey Bay, the people were from Melbourne, had a beautiful house one street back from the beach, a lovely boat and a lifestyle they had scrimped and saved for all their life.
The usual question 'why are you selling'....the answer, 'the kids and 'rellies' came once but think it too far to come and visit again, so we are going back to be close'.
My answer...you go back and may be in the next street or next suburb but where's the guarantee they will visit...and what happens if job requirements means a shift to Perth or Darwin...are you going to 'up anchor' and follow again instead of living 'your' life... the life 'you' scrimped and saved for.
Just my two 'bob rant' because it's something I have come across a lot lately.
Cheers and good luck.

Thanks ladies and gents for the good wishes and warnings; it is not a decision we made lightly. I know we shall hate the weather, the traffic, the cramped, expensive housing, etc., BUT we have lots of rellies there and we get on well with almost all of them. Maybe, by the time we have sold our place, Qantas will have had time to sort out its engine problems, and the worst of the northern winter will be over.

Rocker
If you do nothing else...send us all a photo of yourself at Butlins next summer with a knotted hankie on your head.
Cheers

Wishing you well on the different outlook. You might that some things are still the same, cars travelling the left side of the road, milk coming from cows, woodworkforums site.
