Followup THANK YOU to Alan, Ian and Pat
Followup THANK YOU to Alan, Ian and Pat
FIRSTLY - Thank you again Alan for hosting the Sharpening GTG as I did learn a lot but also THANK YOU for the table of "FREEBIES" in the shed on the day which I totally missed.
Now that being said I mentioned to Brett [aka FF] a couple of weeks later that I was looking for a secondhand 6" grinder to make up a sharpening station.
Brett had taken notice of the "FREEBIES" in Fletty's shed and sent Alan an email; now the Gentleman Woodworker followed the email up with a call to me to offer his old 6" Ryobi Grinder.
And that wasn't he end of it, Alan delivered it to me a few weeks later whilst on his way to visit family....THANK YOU......
SECONDLY - Thank you to Pat & Ian for a FIRST CLASS DEMO upon the benefits of having a CBN Wheel setup on your grinder.....THANK YOU....
THIRDLY - Thank you to Ian for the time on the phone calls to discuss a grinder setup for my requirements plus the advice on confirming the sourcing of the CBN wheels from Jim Carroll....THANK YOU....
Well the grinder cleaned up well with some TLC plus a Kero & Dulux overhaul, it runs very smoothly and the portable setup suits my space starves shed.....
The CBN wheel, White wheel & Diamond Tee Dresser from Jim Carroll have been a good investment....
I ran the grinder today and sharpened 4 very old ex-school class room chisels which are now useful....
The White wheel will be used for re-edging drill bits as the grinder came with a formed tool rest just for drill bits.....
The shield above the White wheel is a new larger than original piece of polycarbonite....
The only issue is working out an easy way to flatten the backs of all my other chisels, but then you only have to flatten the chisel backs once...
AGAIN GENTS, THANK YOU for helping me, along with so many other woodworkers who learnt something new and the skills to apply it....Cheers, Peter
PS - I did suggest to Jim that he may owe you blokes a cool drink by way of a thank you for the additional business resulting from the Sharpening GTG....
