I can laugh now.....
Having promised everyone a sausage sandwich which would of course be completely appropriate for an OCTORMEKFEST, I hit a little problem with my barbecue ...... it blew up on the weekend!

Today I hit barbecue galore etc because my barbecue is a 'bit special'. In the end I bought a Bunnings cheapie and the pic above shows it above the plate with the remains of the old one below!
By weight, l have literally discarded 90% of the new one just to use the burners and faceplate. In the process of removing the welded on hotplate, I set fire to my tshirt which luckily is made of hemp and so it just smouldered happily ... and put me into a very calm mood as I also smouldered happily. We are now ready again for Oktormekfest in March....

Brilliant and to feel like I'm apart of this "tormekfest" I ordered the SVD-186 and SVD-110 (tool rest) today, which I will get tomorrow.
So I will bring those along with my T-7.
Looking forward to having a good chat to you all and hanging around a great bunch of blokes that can actually sharpen.
Not like the guys that were in my tafe class 6 yrs ago that gave their chisels to me to sharpen EVERY time.
They were lucky I liked doing it.
Cheers
Dirk.

Rightio then, I'll now issue a formal challenge to any wetstone wet that thinks they're worth their water.
The idea is that we both start with a chisel that needs honing, rather than other shaping a radical work. Say fresh off the grinder.
Our kits are packed away. From set up to set down - which system is the quickest, and cleanest (let alone most cost effective ). The actual edge results i expect to be very similar.
