Interest in sheoak
I`m driving over to the East in October for family get together, thinking of towing small trailer with some nice pieces of Sheoak, maybe a couple of small slabs around 1500 x 500-600 x 40-50 , and other pieces.
I`ll be in the Southern Highlands of NSW but intend travelling back through Vic and SA . Any interest?

Possibly, depending on price (and if I have any $ left after the Melbourne WWWS).

I might be interested depending on what you bring.
If you happen to be in Melbourne on 22 October there will be a gathering of woodies where you might do alright, see my signature belowI got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Aah David - not venturing up to Brisbane? I love that WA sheaok, especially the lace. I'm dreaming of a lace sheaok slab, delivered to my door
(Yes, I know, sweet dreams but unrealistic.)

I'd love a 100mm thick in as large as possible for bowls, anything like that? I should be able to arrange pick-up in Sydney
As much as I love David's sheoak, I have a fair bit of it and always after more, QLD has the very similar Rose Sheoak (see here Bit of Milling at Tex Timbers Capeen NSW) so may not sell as much up here.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Rose Sheaok is indeed a beautiful timber, but I have never seen any lace figure in it.
I also prefer not to get timber from living trees if I can avoid it. Dusteater's WA sheaok is from dead trees salvaged from the forest.

All Sheoak have lace figure , it`s a matter of ... how would you put it ... degree , style, pattern etc . some look like they`ve been made by an old lady making a lace doylie and some look like they have been made by some "crazy" with one of those spray cans of string, "variety is the spice...".
There seems to be a bit of interest , so I`ll start a thread in the Market Place with individual pieces and prices and we`ll see how it pans out.
As it stand at the moment I have decided to detour down to Kilmore on the way over , which should be about the 26th -28th Sept , hopefully that would give anyone in the Melbourne area a focal point to go to.
Have not planned any times or destinations yet for the return trip.

Rightio, I'd better let fletty know. He's away atm, but back around the end of Sept. He's in Camden which is adjacent to the Southern Highlands. Best post a link to your marketplace thread in here, coz I'm REALLY lazy
