"Sydney" Lie Nielsen Hand Tool Event
It's really Mittagong, at the Sturt School for Wood, but if you live where I do in Sydney, Mittagong and Rooty Hill are about equidistant in terms of travel time.
The details: Lie-Nielsen Toolworks Australian Wooden Boat Festivalregards from Alberta, Canada

Ah excellent. I've marked it on the calendar. Finally, an event in God's country, not this Sydney stuff

Looking forward to this weekend, should be good. Hopefully it gives me the spark I'm looking for to get my motivation for woodworking back!

What you want to do is take on a project that exercises/develops your hand skills -- it's a great justification to acquire additional toyls

Wouldn't mind getting down to the show but have to go out Sat night to a function. Could just scoot down for the day on Sundy. Have to see how the energy supply is.

Just got back from a good entertaining day drooling of the master tool makers wears. Watched the wood bending with interest. Lost interest in carving sort of.
Thanks to my chauffeur Fletty and co-tool drooler.
Nice to meet up with Banksiaman

I missed the wood bending, saw a bit of carving and did a lot of drooling over the tools... May have even passed you a carved snail or two wheelin'.
I showed plenty of restraint though and only left with a couple of cans of G15 from Chris Vesper.
Finished it off with a Robertson pie and a blast down Macquarie Pass in the crappy Commodore before heading back to Sydney.
Great day, thanks Gents.

I was to the right. Didn't really get to meet anyone, just wandered around a little, grabbed a snag and drink, then headed off once the carving was wrapping up.
I really enjoyed Terry Gordon's demos, definitely some nice tools.

This looked to be a good day. Unfortunately I was only able to get there 15 minutes before the sharpening demo started, and had a good yarn to Mike from TTTG.
After the sharpening demo there wasn't much time to look around, other than a quick lap around the hall with some quick looking.
I'm really hoping this keeps going as an annual event. Even that late in the day there was still a good crowd there. Its a nice event to help fill in the calendar.
It was also good to finally get a look at Sturt.
Nathan.

Well I was down there late yesterday and through to about 2PM today.
Had the opportunity to chat with some of the students doing the 12 month Certivicate IV course, Terry Gordon, Chris Vesper, Micheal Conner, Trent Prowse, Colin Clenton, and David Eckhart plus Heavesabove, Darcy and Mike from the Traditional Tools Group -- Darcy even let me play with his compass plane.
Was so busy chatting I missed the demonstrations
I very much hope it's on again next year and the publicity is a little more widespread.
PS I'm lusting after Micheal's show bench -- it's about 1200 x 750 and is fitted with a BenchCrafted leg vice AND a BenchCrafted wagon viceregards from Alberta, Canada

I went on Saturday with wheelinround, bumped into banksiaman and heavansabove but obviously missed a few others who were travelling incognito ... maybe we should have worn our hats again?
I bought a new marking gauge from Colen, drooled over Trent's, Terry's, Chris's and Michael's handiwork, watched the lamination and carving workshops, slobbered over Lie Nielsen ... and cruised TTTG and the gallery .... enough I hear you say?
NO ....! I went back again today!
Got there in time for the sharpening workshop and thought it very good! It just goes to prove however that 10 woodworkers have at least 11 different sharpening techniques and I learnt a lot. This time however I didn't get past Lie Nielsen...........
Thanks to everybody involvedl, I hope you all found it as rewarding as those of us who visited.
