Rose Hill station is the pits - no elevators, tiny platform shelter, steep stairs, half hour service to Clyde station where you face another stairs only climb up and down then another half hour or so wait for the next train to anywhere. The alternate public transport is to catch the M92 bus to Parramatta or Lidcombe stations or 545 bus to Parramatta station. The 'free' bus is usually an antique with no luggage space or easy access that runs every half hour, except when it doesn't run at all. Don't plan on buying anything heavy or bulky if you are travelling by public transport.

Wheelchair access
Thanks Bsrlee for the 'heads up' regarding wheelchair access at Rosehill station. I have a friend who wants to go to her first WWWS, but a rethink of logistics is now required. I will have to check out nearby stations to work out another plan of attack.
If the Forum and our friendly dictator decide to have a stand at the show, I will do a stint on the Friday & Sunday.
I hope the change of venue gives the show a bit of a kick along, especially for those who had difficulty with the $20.00 Homebush parking.
See Ya at the show.

Let us all hope that the costs to retailers/stallholders are more reasonable, so that the Show can be re-invigorated
and have all the attractions of the old days at Moore Park. RGR is a good venue, having attended other events there.
I guess this is the litmus test for the future of the Show, so let us support it. Drillit.

I'm keen on going - and to be honest, I'd still be keen on going if it were still at Homebush as it used to be.
Yes, it cost a bit for parking, and from the Hunter Valley, it's a few hours drive to get there.
But I figured if we all want an annual show to go see stuff, catch up with friends, make friends, and see new equipment and demonstrations, the best way of keeping a positive energy into the show is by attending, and being positive about it. Spend some money whilst you're there if you can (i.e. if it's something you'd buy anyway and potentially can save the shipping on etc).

i agree .. from the far south coast, the cost of entry and parking is negligible ... that said, rose hill is good for me as i have stayed at rydges just across the road the last couple of years... accommodation at hombush bay (stayed there a couple of years ago) was crappy
i get to sydney and canberra each year and melbourne every couple of years they all have something to be positive about

Yeah. I was a bit bemused when I thought about needing to catch a train on the Carlingford line. The last two years at Homebush I caught the train and walked from Concord West, cause I was coming from the north. Also stops me spending too much money, although carrying that small 3" vice back home was a good workout.
This year I'll be away that weekend, oh well. That just gives me a reason to go to the Illawarra show I guess.

I had heard about the change of ownership last week, but was also told about another supposed change of ownership about 2 mths ago which turned out to be a bit of false info.
I haven't heard anything from the (now) former Show owners for a good 12 mths.
I won't be having a U-Beaut stand at the show and doubt we'll be doing anything for the forums at Sydney as it hasn't been feasible for some time now.
However, I will talk, to Candice during the week and see if anything can be arranged. I will also look into getting the discounted tickets back up and running again for members.
Cheers - Neil
PS If the Melb show was moved from the Downunder Turnaround weekend U-Beaut would definitely have a hard look at going back and doing the show again. Also having forum stand.

Apparently some believe that the Phoenix did not actually rise from the ashes of its own fiery death:

But going forward from here it's a new ball game and I am looking forward to seeing what happens with the Melbourne show and I will support it if I can. Moving it from the Weekend of the Turnaround would be a great start. Moving it to somewhere with better parking and public transport access would be a good next step. If it goes ahead at Seaworks that would be closer to home for me than the show has ever been but I still think it would be unworkable.
Cheers

Moving it from Melbourne to Adelaide with its cheaper parking and proximity to home might entice me back .... but unlikely as I am now officially old and grumpy.

There is a dedicated 'disabled' car park off Grand Parade right up near the railway bridge, fully paved access to the various stands. So it might be a good idea to make sure you have her parking sticker with you if you take your friend by car.
For people who can manage a bit of a walk but are stumped by stairs there is a low level access through a car park off James Ruse Drive nearest to Grand Pde - No. 3 IIRC - but you have to get across the railway level crossing on foot and the 'car park' is just rough grass.

Thank you very much for this info. Not sure if she has a disabled parking sign as she doesn't drive.
Looking forward to the show, it will be interesting to see how it compares to Homebush.

I'm going to try and get there this year. Might try for Friday.
Those were the droids I was looking for.
