Default Woodworking club in Brisbane?

Hi everyone.
I have been looking for some kind of wood workers' club, society, group or whatever you like to call it, a place like MAD in Loganholme, I suppose, and I came across this announcement (below) on woodwork forums. I am wondering if there was any outcome from all the discussions some of you had back then? And do we have a fine woodworkers’ club in Brisbane now? If not, would there be enough interest and support amongst us to establish one. I have been in the industry for many years overseas and in Australia, specialising in woodcarving. If there is enough interest and support, I’ll be more than happy to organize meetings towards the establishment of a Brisbane fine woodworkers’ club. Any help or comment would be appreciated.
Regards, Amir Naderi

"(Gday all - those of you who checked the general woodwork forum this morning would have seen a lament about the lack of a club for furniture-makers and general wood butchers in Brisvegas. You might have also seen that I'm happy to lend part of my shed for the purpose, if anyone is interested. I'd be a member straight up, as my own fine WW skills are crap at best. The only catch is that you'd have to supply your own tools, because our business is milling and salvaging, not woodworking. Rocker has already chipped in with an offer to help out where he can (silly bugger - he should know better ).
We currently trade at the yard from 3-7pm daily and I can see no reason why we can't have the shed open for the club 'til late when needed. There is an area of about 50sq.m which could be easily turned into a club workshop, as well as the yard and the main part of the shed. There are dunnies and a smoko room close by.
Anyway, if anyone's interested, drop me a PM or give me a call on
0400 455 705.Cheers,Craig Minns, Eco Urban Timber, 15 Brecknock St, Archerfield)"

You details are a bit sketchy as to when and where the original thread took place. If you could link us to the original thread on here, it would be a great help.

Default Woodcraft Clubs

Anyone looking for a Woodcraft Club in Brisbane etc, can find one listed on the Australian Woodreview's website under "Resources" and many cover most woodcraft disciplines, it could depend though on how far you wish to travel.
For Graig Minns offering his shed sounds great but I suggest he checks out insurance implications etc. before he throws the doors open.

Wow you have been through the archives.. I wouldn't know if that ever eventuated. I imagine insurance would be prohibitive with something like that. There was thread recently along the lines of wanting to share a shed with others but the response on here was somewhat negative.

I was a bit puzzled by the above, since I migrated to the Old Dart a month ago, and never made any such commitment; there is no-one else in the members' list with a nick like Rocker.

Rocker

PS
Hmm; perhaps I did offer back in 2005, but that was seven years ago, and I am now a long way from Brisbane
