Hi all, just wondering what might be an easy to use photo editing program that is downloadable, used to have picture it which was ok but lost it (computer fail) now am using photoimpression 4 but it's a bit painful, windows photo gallery 2012 would seem to be recent but Is it ok to use? What do you think?

Have a look at Google's Picasa, very good organiser and editor.
Doesn't give all the bells and whistles of Photoshop etc but does me about 95% of the time.
Oh, and it is free, links with Picasa web albums and Google+.

If not Picasa, then try Irfanview. It is free and will do all the basic things really well and a lot of more advanced things as well. It is bug free and has no pop ups or othet annoying features.

I use Picasa also. As Fred said, it does pretty much all I require although I still need to learn more about it.

Be aware that anything online (particularly free) is likely to let the pics be downloadable by anyone who can see the pic - copyright issues. Furthermore, I think some of these software providers state that as a condition of use they get to use the pics for whatever they like. Fine print is everything.
If the pics are not important, then this doesn't matter much.

Cover Your Butt.
Some years ago, I tried to get going in the digital photography thing. Everybody had a different opinion of which software program was "the best".
Yeah? Like the best for what?
So I downloaded a dozen, all of which have no instructions to speak of. Bunch of the seat of your pants learning. . . I'm bored, already.
Fast forward = the programs fought with eachother to deal with the image.
So, I deleted them all.
Digital can't save 10% of what's in an analog 4x5 neg = fact. I've done 4x5 silver for more than 50 years. Somebody told me that's better than 70,000dpi. Maybe so. I don't care any more.
Digital is fantastically convenient for internet, for catalogue shoots, etc. If you want permanent, razor sharp, pure silver prints to 48" x 96", we might have a deal.

There is no substitute for Photoshop(R)! End of argument. I've used it since it first appeared on the market and have upgraded to keep myself current. Mind you, I'm a pro photographer so it's a necessity. Refuse to pay Adobe's Aussie prices. I have a friend in the States to whom I sent a 'gift' of whatever I buy from Amazon and she in turn sends it on to me as a 'gift'. More than one way to skin a cat. Amazon price is 1/3 of the Aussie price.
