Here are flower photographs from the Christchurch Botanical Gardens (recent holiday). Camera is a Pentax k-5 II with pentax 18-135mm zoom. They are both Daglia's.

Brad...I like the second and third offerings. Number one seems a bit "soft". The camera probably moved just slightly.

I got a bit lazy with the first one I guess Ed. Its about 6 feet off the ground, and I was stretching to take the shot, probably should have gotten a chair to stand on.

The ball in the centre of the photo is what I focused on, the DOF with this lens is really quite thin, so most of the photo was always going to be a bit out of focus anyhow.
I think the 2nd and 3rd photos I used a smaller aperture, which probably suits the photos a bit better.

G'day Ed, thanks for that. My pics are nowhere near as good as the rest of them, and I don't have any of the names on there, as I am not where the flowers are at the moment.

.......hmmmmmm, there's a remedy for that Nick ~ a length of rope and some duct tape should keep the youngster in place long enough to get a few pics

A couple more plants that thrive during winter here in Pensacola, Florida.

The first is Azelea, the second is an "unkown".

Here are a couple of pics from a visit to the Mackay Orchid house.
The colours are a bit off because I didn't change my white balance setting, unbeknown to me they had different types of lighting as you went around. In hindsight I should have had the camera on auto white balance.
