Yea...they were taken on the living room table where the sun streams in from the picture window to the south.

Made for increased DOF with the soft shadows enhancing the shot.

    Hi Ed.

I like these better than your 100 plus shots of a pine cone.

    Story time.

I have invested a heap of money in my Nikon set up.
D700, macro lens, the Nikon trilogy and a heap of flashes and support gear.
My wife was showing an interest in how I was spending my free time so I bought her a D40 and the kit lens. This was the cheapest Nikon SLR camera/lens available at this time.

Recently I pressured her into entering a couple of her shots in a national competition. There were 1500 plus entries from all over Australia.

She won a merit award and had her picture printed in the exhibition catalouge.

Just goes to prove the old theory that the photographer takes the picture not the equipment.

I look forward to your future shots.

    Cheers

    Tim

    Default Another rose

Here is my 'double delight' rose, with beautiful fragrance, flowering at the moment. Appears to have just missed the focus in the centre

    Tnx, Marg.

Nice flower Jill...what aperture were you using? Assuming a low number, going to a larger number (smaller opening...confusing, ain't it?) should result in more of the area in focus.

Thanks Ed, I am a newby at photography. This one used the closeup setting, but I didn't save the original photo which would show the settings, as my daughter borrowed the camera for a trip O/S.

There is a couple of lessons there - on settings for the lens, and on storing the originals

    Hi Ed,

Great shots, I particularly like the second one. I have tried to do the same many times with roses and the centre of ferns but never get a shot that is anywhere near as good as my eye sees it. Well done.

Wendy, I too am learning, but want to upgrade from my 'consumer' camera. The Double Delight is one spectacularly fragrant rose , I have one too, for that reason.

    Cheers
