The wood duck is probably nesting there - they nest in hollows in trees. That's probably why it was making a noise - upset by your presence close to its brood.
The nest can be up to 10 metres up - which makes it interesting when the ducklings need to come down.

That's way kool Cowboy!.
Do you know what the bird is that's using the nest?
I'm pretty sure you'd be more than aware of it, but just in case.
Try to stay away from the nest as much as possible or the eggs maybe abandoned.
Great stuff mate.
Trev.
P.S Take a holiday down here anytime you like

The bird takes to flight as soon as I step in. I just see a brownish black flurry of feathers as it takes off.

If you want to ID it, Google 'blackbird eggs nest'.

The only problem I seem to have at the moment is wether I should be looking up or down.
But it's a wonderful dilemma to have!.

Have a look at the little toadstool that's pushed it's way through the bitumen "We bred them tough down here".

The little fellow (last pic in the row above) is doing his best with his one tiny spot of blue.
But his no match for Clyde!

It absolutely chucked it down the other day.
I don't know that I've seen it rain that hard in my life!.
The next day was beautiful and it seemed like everything was new and fresh.

I agree with Keith on the Arum Lily, but I also like the two fluffy Kookas sitting on the fence together.
